Head north—way north—to Iceland and the Faroes, where landscapes feel plucked from fantasy novels. Hike glaciers and volcanic moonscapes, then soak in the Blue Lagoon’s surreal warmth. In the Faroes, trek cliffsides, discover villages so charming it’s downright suspicious, and meet locals eager to spill island secrets.

Trails through mystical lands

Our adventure begins in Thingveiller National Park, located in the dramatic rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Hike past steaming vents, sulphur pits and bubbling warm rivers with dramatic mountain backdrops. Tonight we'll dine at our hotel.

Head east to Thorsmork and the north side of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. Here, we’ll hike across dramatic landscapes to reach the site where floodwaters gushed out from under the glacier. Enjoy an outdoor picnic with incredible views before another evening at Hotel Ranga.

Equipped with crampons, ice axes and an expert local guide, we’ll set off on a hike across the Sólheimajökull glacier. We’ll learn about the effects of climate change on this educational and exciting journey. Later, visit the black-sand beaches in Vik and the stunning Dyrhólaey. Then, we're off to our next hotel, The Retreat.

Today we’ll discover the mesmerizing Reykjanes Peninsula and Geopark, wandering along the rugged coastline with volcanic craters, bubbling mud pools and steaming hot springs. We’ll pause for lunch in a charming fishing village, before a relaxing afternoon at the Blue Lagoon.

Catch a quick flight to the Faroe Islands. Upon arrival, set off to meet a local farmer in Gasadalur to learn about life in the secluded village. Then, we'll walk to visit the most iconic waterfall in the Faroe Islands.&nbsp;

Venture to the Saksun, a remote village with only 11 residents. Set off to explore the settlement surrounded by mountains and waterfalls flowing down the steep hillsides. We’ll be welcomed into the home of a Faroese farmer for a hearty lunch before heading back to Tórshavn for the evening.

A quick ferry ride brings us to Mykines Island, home to puffin colonies and awe-inspiring landscapes. After hiking to the best viewpoints, we’ll stop for lunch at a local cafe. Then, we’re off to see the rock formations of Tindhólmur and Drangarnir and a boat ride to explore the caves where seabirds nest. Tonight, we’ll dine in the historical village of Kirkjubøur at a local farmer’s home for a special final night celebration.

After one final breakfast, we'll say goodbye in Tórshavn.

The Faroe Islands remain a hidden gem, with tourism infrastructure still evolving. Outside the capital, services are limited, and true luxury lies in experiencing this untouched paradise before the crowds arrive.

Iceland and the Faroe Islands can have variable weather throughout the day, with some wind, rain and cooler temperatures. We recommend packing layers and a Gore-Tex raincoat to stay comfortable and dry.

At our second stop in Iceland, our group will have the choice to choose between two hotels- The Retreat at the Blue Lagoon or Silica Hotel. Both hotels provide excellent comfort, luxury and care, and the final trip cost varies according to your selection.

From the rolling countryside in Vidago, Montalegre and Douro, to the elegant spaces of Chaves, art galleries and Michelin-starred chefs, feel the juxtaposition each day as you explore Portugal's glorious interior. Gently pedal past whitewashed quintas and traverse terraced vineyards while leaving the challenging uphill ride for the final day, with gratifying vistas as a reward. Slow down and lean into traditional Portuguese wellness, wine and wonderful cuisine by connecting with local chefs, longstanding family port producers and artists to add unique perspectives to your experience.

The contrasts of Portugal

Throughout the day take in the contrasts of the region, the areas Catholic roots and traditional Pagan history, starting in the rural countryside and ending your day in urban city of Chaves. 

Start today in Montalegre, at the only national park in Portugal. Cycle by villages and feel connected to the traditional Portuguese way of life before arriving at a sophisticated contemporary art gallery and home to a geometric abstractionist painter.

You have the classic Douro valley day ahead of you filled with the terraced highlands of the Douro river and of course Port tastings. Hike the charming alleys and enjoy a refreshing picnic by a group of local women on a private riverboat that will take you upstream the river. 

Ramble through the hillsides crammed with vines in the village of Pomarelhe and follow the trails to a secluded family-run Port producer for a picnic in their beautiful garden. Relax at your leisure back at the sumptuous hotel this afternoon.

Today's ride kicks it up a notch with a more challenging uphill ride with rewarding and stunning vistas. Bike past vineyards hugging the rivers edge and pause for lunch with a Michelin starred chef.

Wander from the verdant countryside to coastal San Sebastián

Cycle through the sunlit hills and coastal trails of the Basque Country, ending with ocean views and a seaside lunch in Guéthary. Learn the local passion for pelota basque before returning to Brindos Lac &amp; Château for a relaxing evening by the lake and a celebratory welcome dinner.&nbsp;

Walk between Ainhoa and Sare through lush valleys and forest paths, surrounded by the gentle rhythm of grazing sheep and village life. Taste local flavours and traditions, then unwind over dinner with panoramic views of the Basque hills.

Head to Spain’s Basque Country this morning, where we’ll begin our walk in the small village of Aia. Accompanied by ocean views, we’ll wander to Pagoeta Natural Park, home to a medieval mill and botanical garden. After lunch in a Txakoli wintery, we’ll head to Zarautz. This evening, enjoy a lovely beach stroll before dinner on your own.

A breathtaking hike awaits us at the Flysch Geoparque, one of the most extraordinary routes along the Basque coast, and home to geological formations that are over 60 million years old. After lunch in a fisherman’s port, we’ll set off to the Akelarre Hotel, our peaceful home overlooking the Bay of Biscay.

Departing from the hotel, we’ll set off along the Camino de Santiago to reach downtown San Sebastián. Eventually, we’ll meet our local guide in the old town for a tour and pintxos lunch. After an afternoon exploring on your own, we’ll regroup for a fabulous final night celebration at the exclusive Gastronomic Society.

After one final breakfast, our journey through the Basque Country comes to an end.

After landing in Calgary, you’ll be driven to Canmore. Explore downtown and its old mining influences on your own and enjoy a bite to eat along the river.&nbsp;

Discover the Grotto Canyon with an Indigenous guide, where you’ll hike through the towering canyon walls, keeping an eye out for pictographs and messages from the past. After lunch in town, you’ll hop on your raft and float down the incredible Bow River.

Take your pick of hiking or biking today on Goat Creek trail that will take you straight to the next hotel. Unwind tonight at the Fairmont Banff, a stunning hotel nestled in the heart of Banff National Park.

The biking options are endless today, from extreme black diamond mountain bike trails to beautiful winding riverside trails and everything in between! Take to the water this afternoon in a canoe onto Vermillion Lakes or explore Banff’s boutiques and breweries.

Explore a network of hiking trails high in the mountains, scale the side of rock faces, venture across a suspension bridge and climb up ladders on the Via Ferrata. Options abound, you can also pedal in the valley between the scenic stretch from Banff to Lake Louise.

Visit the gems of the Rockies, Moraine and Emerald Lake. Take in the stunning blue of the glacier-fed waters before touring other local natural attractions. Pause for lunch in the historic town of Field at one of our favourite restaurants, then embark on a walking tour of the quaint, little town. Tonight, cheers to your magical trip in the Rockies.

After an easy morning, we will drive you back to Calgary International airport for your onward travels. Fond farewells!

It’s hard to believe that so much beauty, diversity and wine can be found so close to Cape Town. Not to mention the spectacular lodges and biking and hiking routes. This journey is not dissimilar to many of our European jaunts, as we pop easily from one elegant hotel to the next - enjoying vineyard tastings, art gallery visits and animal sightings along the way. Pedalling past dramatic vistas, we move from the Cape Peninsula to the winelands then finish with a few days of witnessing the&nbsp;“Serengeti of the Sea" on marine safari.

Upon arrival, you'll be picked up from the airport and driven to Cape Grace Hotel. This evening, join your B&R Guides for welcome cocktails to kick off an incredible adventure in Africa.

Challenge yourself with a hike up Table Mountain, the Seventh Natural Wonder of the World. Descend the mountain by cable car and explore the city, including a stroll through one of South Africa’s most photographed neighbourhoods.

Meet with a local artist and bee expert in Simon's Town, who will bring South Africa’s diversity to life. Search for penguins on a beach known only to locals, exploring shipwrecks and the Cape Peninsula’s unique wildlife. 

Take your first bike ride in the Winelands, passing charming towns and award-winning vineyards. Stop at a local winery for lunch and a tasting before cycling downtown to Leeu Estates to settle in for the night.

Pedal through vast farmlands with panoramic views of the Hottentots Holland mountain range before lunch at an estate winery. This evening, venture into town for an art gallery tour.

Enjoy an easygoing ride through the Hemel en Aarde Valle, a beautiful and lesser-known wine region. Stop in Hermanus for our chance to spot whales before regrouping for cocktails on our nature reserve’s terrace.

Witness the Marine Big 5–whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins–an eco-friendly marine adventure led by experienced biologists. Enjoy a guided hike through the mountainous vegetation of the fynbos (fine bush) before returning to the lodge for a spa treatment.
