Day 1
Journey from Hanoi into the mountains of northern Vietnam, where a scenic drive leads to the peaceful rice fields and karst landscapes of Mai Chau. Walk through rural villages, learn about the traditions of the Thai, Mường and Hmong communities and enjoy a local lunch before settling into a secluded mountain hideaway surrounded by jungle and waterfalls.

Day 2
Explore the mountain landscapes of Mai Chau on foot, hiking through rice fields and remote hamlets while connecting with the traditions, music and daily life of northern Vietnam’s hill communities. Back at Avana Retreat, cook and savour local dishes with the hotel’s chef before an afternoon of relaxation or optional walks, followed by a garden-to-table dinner.

Day 3
Experience everyday life in the lively market in Xam Khoe before walking through a lush valley of rice terraces, bamboo groves and traditional stilt houses. Enjoy a home-style local lunch before returning to Avana Retreat to unwind, before we reconvene tonight for a final dinner in this beautiful mountain retreat.

Day 4
Enjoy a final morning in the mountains of Mai Chau, with time to relax at the hotel or kayak across a scenic reservoir before lunch. Continue to Hanoi for your flight to Laos, a land of rich cultural diversity and tranquil beauty.
Day 5
Bike through Luang Prabang with views of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, stopping at a traditional Saa paper-making village before continuing by bike and private boat to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues. Cruise back along the Mekong over a leisurely local lunch, then unwind in town before a traditional Baci ceremony and dinner at the hotel.

Day 6
Begin the day witnessing the centuries-old alms-giving tradition before exploring the morning market and the turquoise pools of Tad Kouang Si Waterfalls. Bike through the surrounding hills back to town, then discover Luang Prabang’s UNESCO World Heritage centre, including Wat Xieng Thong and the former Royal Palace, before an evening at leisure.

Day 7
Delve into the artistic traditions with a visit to Ock Pop Tok, where local weavers share the stories and techniques behind Laos’ celebrated textile culture. After a final Laotian lunch, fly to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where a new chapter begins amid the temples and traditions of the Khmer Kingdom.

Day 8
Discover the wonders of Angkor Thom and the Bayon temples with a local guide before pedalling through the jungle trails, followed by a deeper look at Cambodia’s recent history and authentic Khmer cuisine. In the afternoon, explore the magnificent Angkor Wat as the golden light brings its intricate carvings to life, then toast the day with sunset cocktails and dinner in Siem Reap.

Day 9
Begin the day exploring Ta Prohm before cycling through the vast West Baray reservoir on quiet countryside roads. After lunch in Siem Reap, the afternoon is yours to explore the town or relax at the spa. Tonight, we'll celebrate our journey with a final dinner near West Baray.

Early mornings
Cambodia and Vietnam rise early—so our explorations will also begin in the early mornings. At the end of the day, we’ll enjoy dinner at 6:30-7PM.

A digital passport scan is required at booking due to the included flight from Vietnam to Laos and Laos to Cambodia. Ensure your passport is valid for 6 months beyond the last day of travel and has a few blank pages.
