Carbon Neutral Trip
Sri Lanka is best explored by pedalling—through coconut groves, coastal roads, and a treasure trove of UNESCO gems. Ride from Negombo to the Cultural Triangle, then hop a float plane to artsy, sun-drenched Galle. With ancient cities, star-lit dinners, and spice-laced cuisine, this island spins history, culture, and adventure into one seriously scenic ride.

No two trips are ever the same, but this will give you a taste of what your journey will be like.
Day 1
Our first ride of the week takes us north along the coastal road from Kochikade. While pedalling, watch sandy beaches, colourful fishing boats and lively fish markets come into view. After lunch, we’re off to our villa tucked within the lush vegetation of a tropical jungle for a relaxing afternoon.
Activity:
40 km (25 mi.) easygoing ride on flat terrain that first cruises north along the coast and then turns inland biking through the Coconut Triangle
Day 2
This morning we’ll hop on our bikes to explore the Cultural Triangle, a playground of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our first stop is Anuradhapura, the grandest of all ancient cities. This evening, dinner will be served on the magical Kamata Island, savouring Sri Lankan cuisine under the stars.
Activity:
38 km (24 mi.) ride to Anuradhapura ruins on flat, traffic free roads. Small sections of the ride are unpaved | Elevation gain: 124 m (406 ft.), Elevation loss: 152 m (498 ft.)
9 km (6 mi.) around the site with various stops
Day 3
Our day begins with a ride along an old king’s route through the heart of Sri Lanka, eventually stopping for lunch at our friend’s home. We’ll prepare regional dishes together before we’re off to our next hotel. Spend the rest of the day settling in and enjoying the tranquility of the protected wetland that surrounds the property.
Activity:

Optional ride | 16 km (10 mi.) | Elevation gain: 123 m (403 ft.), Elevation loss: 110 m (360 ft.)
Day 4
We’re off to explore Sigiriya Rock by foot, trekking through water gardens and sculpted boulder buildings to climb the 1,200 steps to the ruins of King Kasyapa’s summer place. Then, we’re off to Adigar's Manor, our home for the next two nights, where we’ll enjoy a relaxing dinner.
Activity:
A short but steep walk up Sigirya Rock | Elevation gain: 93 m (305 ft.), Elevation loss: 93 m (305 ft.)
39 km (24 mi.) ride from the hotel to lunch | Elevation gain: 272 m (892 ft.), Elevation loss: 243 m (797 ft.)
Day 5
Today we’ll spend time exploring the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country, a distinct part of Sri Lankan culture. Enjoy a delicious lunch spread with impeccable mountain views before exploring the town of Kandy. Tonight, we’ll dine at the hotel.
