Carbon Neutral Trip
There’s a fresh energy pulsing through Northern Spain’s wine country. Cycle through rolling vineyards and wheat fields where bold architecture meets deep tradition. Meet visionary winemakers, artists and chefs redefining the region’s identity. From smoky txorizo to Michelin-starred magic—paired with vintages full of surprise—this is Spain as you’ve never tasted it before.

Day by Day
No two trips are ever the same, but this will give you a taste of what your journey will be like.
Day 1
We begin today’s ride in Ircio, a sleepy hamlet at the doorstep of la Rioja, for our first taste of the region’s wine country. Pedal through the vineyards before stopping for lunch and a tasting at a local wine bar whose producer is known for award-winning vintages.
Activity:
48 km (30 mi.) ride from Ircio via Rivas de Tereso to Marques de Riscal | Total elevation: 556 m (1,824 ft)
Day 2
We weave past villages and wineries on a loop ride through the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria. Lounge over a local lunch followed by a Basque Txalaparta music performance. In the evening, we'll make our way to the hilltop village of Laguardia for a tour.
Activity:
43 km (27 mi.) loop ride from Marques de Riscal to Elvillar | Total elevation: 654 m (2,146 ft)
Day 3
Today we change Sierras as we venture south from the Basque Country then deep into Rioja. We stop for lunch at Palacio Casafuerte in Zarratón, a medieval village known for its chapels.
Activity:
52 km (32 mi.) ride from Marques de Riscal to Santo Domingo de la Calzada | Total elevation: 653 m (2,142 ft)
Day 4
Riding through Roa del Duero, we cross the Duero River and venture the stretch between Valladolid and Peñafiel (where the greatest wines of the appellation are produced) before a paella lunch. A private tour and tasting at a vineyard await this evening.
Activity:
49 km (31 mi.) ride from Roa to Abadia Retuerta | Total elevation: 244 m (800 ft.)
Day 5
Ride past vineyards and farmers' fields to arrive at Pico Melero, a cheese factory that's been around since 1839, for a memorable lunch and cheese tasting. Indulge in a Michelin-star affair in the magnificent 12th c. church this evening. ¡Salud!
Activity:
42 km (26 mi.) loop ride to Pico Melero & the Abadia Retuerta | Total elevation: 307 m (1,007 ft)
Day 6
After breakfast, our driver will take us to Valladolid for connections on the high-speed train to Madrid. Adios!
