Day 1
Journey inland to Portugal's most dramatic mountain landscape, the Serra da Estrela, riding through open highland terrain toward the highest point in continental Portugal. Descend one of Europe's longest glacial valleys to Manteigas, pausing for a private visit to a local burel wool factory. Settle into Casa de São Lourenço, perched at 1,200 metres, for cocktails and dinner overlooking the valley.

Day 2
Ride deep into the Serra da Estrela along open plateaus and granite ridgelines, where shepherds still guide their flocks along quiet mountain roads. Pause for a beautifully arranged picnic at a local quinta, then return to the hotel to unwind. This evening, gather at a mountain hut for an atmospheric performance, fireside cocktails, and a hearty regional dinner.

Day 3
Descend from the Serra da Estrela to Seia, the heartland of Portugal's celebrated mountain cheese, for a tasting that reveals the region's pastoral traditions. Enjoy lunch at a beloved local institution before a gentle ride to Valverde Santar, an elegant manor set among historic gardens and vineyards. In the evening, join the hotel's chef for a hands-on cooking class exploring seasonal, regional flavours.

Day 4
Begin at the foot of Lamego's 686-step Baroque staircase, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, before riding through the heart of the Douro past vineyards, orchards and family farms. Pause for lunch riverside at an exceptional restaurant known for its refined regional cuisine. Arrive at Six Senses Douro Valley, a restored 19th-century manor above the river, for an evening at your own leisure.

Day 5
Ride into the Douro's most emblematic landscapes, pausing in the quietly captivating village of Provesende before descending to Pinhão. Board a private boat for a leisurely picnic cruise past terraced vineyard slopes, with time for a swim in the river. Return to Six Senses to unwind, then gather for a fitting finale: cocktails and dinner at a candlelit 16th-century house, with music closing your journey through northern Portugal.

Day 6
After a final breakfast, it's time to say goodbye. Based on your departure flight, we'll arrange a drop-off at Porto airport on time to catch your return flight home. Boa viagem!

Portugal offers diverse terrain which can include cobblestone roads when entering towns and steep hills. We recommend familiarity with biking in these conditions and an e-bike for non avid cyclists.

Spring in the Douro Valley offers flowers, refreshing weather, and smaller crowds. During fall's harvest season, vineyards are slightly busier and the grapes are still on the vines.
