No two trips are ever the same, but this will give you a taste of what your journey will be like.

Day 1

After meeting our guides, we’ll catch a quick flight westward to Kamembe. Feel the pulse and heart of Rwanda as we begin walking through local communities and along well-trodden paths. After a gentle up climb, we’ll arrive at One & Only Nyungwe House for a relaxing afternoon and dinner.

Day 2

Head deep into the forest on a canopy walk exploring the Igishigishigi Trail, crossing suspension bridges with incredible views over the forest canopy. Then we’re off to the Giskrua Tea Factory for a tour and infusion tasting. This evening, we’ll visit the Africa Parks Headquarters for an insider look at how the organization is managing Nyungwe Park.

Day 3

Embark on a chimpanzee tracking adventure, wandering through the forest and listening for vocalizations to spot these incredible primates. Once spotted, we’ll spend up to an hour observing them. The rest of the afternoon is ours to enjoy the beautiful hotel property before regrouping for a tea ceremony and dinner.

Day 4

We’re off to the coast of the vast Lake Kivu today, embarking on a short walk and arriving at Cleo Lodge in time for a late lunch. Later this afternoon, we’ll regroup for a sunset cocktail on the lake, admiring the fishermen as they head out for the night.

Day 5

Our walk begins in Kinunu, where bright green coffee estates blanket the surrounding hillsides. While we walk, we’ll hear about the coffee washing stations speckled across the hillsides and the economic impact the stations have on local farmers. Tonight, we’ll enjoy dinner on the terrace at the hotel.

Day 6

We’re off to Musanze today on a 4-hour drive to Sabyinyo. Following lunch, we’ll leave the lodge to stroll through the local communities. This evening, we’ll be joined by a representative from Gorilla Doctors and learn about the vital conservation efforts for primates.

Day 7

Head out early this morning for a full day of gorilla tracking in the Virunga Mountain Range. With our expert trackers, we’ll make our way to the trailhead in search of family groups of Silverback gorillas—the sight of these primates is exhilarating. Tonight, we'll enjoy dinner at the lodge.

Gorilla Trek: ranges from easygoing to challenging; roughly 1-6 hours of walking depending on family assignment

Day 8

Choose between another gorilla trek, setting off in search of a different family, or a hike out at Twin Lakes, embarking on an easygoing lakeside walk and picnic lunch. We’ll then regroup at the lodge for a final celebration dinner, reflecting on an incredible journey in Rwanda.

Day 9

After a relaxing morning at the lodge, we’ll drive back to Kigali for onward travels.

Tracking chimpanzees means we will be off-trail at times on terrain that can be steep, slippery and muddy while passing through thick vegetation. It is imperative that you feel confident as a hiker on all types of terrain.
