We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

Day by Day
Upon your arrival to Bolzano, you will be driven to your beautiful alpine hotel on Alpe di Siusi, a plateau surrounded by the South Tyrolean Dolomites, overlooking the famous villages of Siusi allo Sciliar and Castelrotto.
Hike from your hotel to a 100+ year-old rifugio (mountain hut) for lunch. Set atop the Sciliar plateau, stunning views of the neighbouring Catinaccio Massif await you at this popular hikers hideaway.
Visit Selva di Val Gardena, one of the beautiful towns situated in the Gardena valley. From Selva, you’ll hop on a cable car lifting you to the Gardena Pass. Follow a rocky trail for almost two hours with the steep pinnacles of Pizzes da Cir on either side of you. Hike up to the Passo Cir and follow a wider trail on undulating terrain leading to the Forcella de Ciampac and up to the Rifugio Puez where you can stop for lunch.
The day begins with a drive to Valparola Pass and a gradual climb across grassy flowered flanks to the ruins of World War I military fortifications. From here there are breathtaking views of the Conturines, Sas de Pütia, and Puez-Odle massifs. Continue to a fork where you can choose to hike to the top of the Setsass Massif with beautiful vistas as your reward!
Today, a gentle hike up to the Santa Croce Sanctuary allows you to move at a slower pace and linger over breakfast in the fresh mountain air. If you opt for a more rigorous hike, a short drive will take you to the start of your journey at the Capanna Alpina, a hut built just at the edge of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park.
Enjoy a final breakfast at the Rosa Alpina before your onward travels. A drive to Innsbruck airport or Venice are available on request–Buon viaggio!

Rosa Alpina, San Cassiano
Rosa Alpina has earned its Relais & Châteaux and Michelin accolades, but what we love most about this understated retreat is its warm hospitality. Hugo Pizzinini welcomes us to the family as soon as we cross the threshold, while Chef Norbert invites us into his kitchen as he prepares dinner. View hotel website »
Travelling with B&R is what being alive is all about. It's action packed and incredibly invigorating with so many personal highlights that it's hard to single out just one.— Andrew Crowe
Escape the crowded tourist trails in some parts of Italy, and head to the Dolomites for a unique Italian travel experience. These stunning peaks have drawn foreign mountaineers for centuries, yet somehow they remain one of Italy’s best kept secrets.A Family Travel Blog

This hiking trip covers a variety of terrain that at times is challenging. Paths are mostly hard-packed dirt trails, however there are some rocky paths with a mix of ascents and descents. Our aim is to provide you with an exceptional experience with maximum attention to your safety and comfort. Your first day’s orientation briefing will review plans for each day, provide alternative routes and assess upcoming weather patterns. As a guide will join you on your third day, it gives you the opportunity to go over plans again and if necessary, alter the itinerary to suit your capabilities. All mountain activities require appropriate clothing and equipment. To ensure preparedness for quickly changing weather conditions and varying activities, it is essential that you carry a small personal backpack containing a lightweight waterproof jacket, and the appropriate amount of water. Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support and strong grips are highly recommended.
“I walk regularly and enjoy the feeling of achievement I get from a good hike.”
