Sicily’s been wooing visitors for millennia—and with seaside trails, baroque towns, and volcanic drama, it’s easy to see why. Walk from ancient ruins to almond farms, feast in a winemaker’s home, and live la dolce vita at the Belmond in Taormina. With Mount Etna as your backdrop, this is indulgence with just the right edge.

Good to know

Terrain
The hike up Mount Etna features gravel and loose volcanic rock. We recommend familiarity hiking in these conditions.

Pre and Post trip
Sicily is a large island. If you have extra time, consider extending your trip with a visit in Palermo, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, and an additional night in Siracuse to further explore this ancient Greek town.

Packing
The hike on Mount Etna is 1,800 meters above sea level, where the weather can be colder. Be prepared with layers, and a hat and gloves for trips in May and October.
