Absolutely. This trip is designed for solo travellers looking to get away, reconnect with themselves, nourish their bodies and curiosity, and explore alongside a welcoming community.
Couples, friends, siblings, and colleagues are equally welcome. Intentionally small and hosted by MELT—with B&R thoughtfully managing the details—the trip offers six days of movement, culture, and connection.
All rooms have one king bed and can accommodate either single occupancy or double occupancy with a shared bed. Room categories may vary slightly and will be assigned by the trip organizers. Twin beds and cots are not available.
No. Yoga mats and all necessary props will be provided. If you have a favourite mat you prefer to practise with, you’re welcome to bring it.
Yes! Each day is divided into three parts, with movement or group activities planned for two and one left open for you to relax at Escondido Oaxaca or explore the city at your own pace. We start our days early to make the most of cooler morning temperatures, with mid-afternoons left open for cultural experiences, pool time or a well-earned siesta.
Escondido Oaxaca is a destination in itself—blending historic architecture, local craftsmanship, contemporary design, and the rich cultural traditions of Oaxaca.
Yes. Airport transfers are included and will be arranged for you. Pickup and drop-off details will be shared closer to the departure date.
Fly into Oaxaca International Airport (OAX). From Toronto Pearson (YYZ), the best options are typically to fly with Air Canada or WestJet via Cancún (CUN) or Mexico City (MEX), then connect onward to Oaxaca.
Yes! When booking, let your Travel Coordinator, Anastasiia know that you’re interested in extending your time in Mexico and she will connect you with your Experience Designer Dane Tredway. You might add a few nights in Mexico City, visit the coastal town of Puerto Escondido, or explore another destination. Dane will be happy to create an itinerary tailored to your interests and travel dates.
No prior experience is required but you are encouraged to attend classes at Melt in advance of the trip to get familiar with them. Classes will range from Sculpt and mat Pilates to yoga flow, and you’re encouraged to choose the pace, heat, and intensity that suit how you want to feel. Melt founder and lead instructor Kathryn will lead or oversee the classes and can help tailor movements to your needs.
You don’t need a perfect practice before you arrive—bring your body as it is and let the rest build gradually.
While days are warm, temperatures can drop noticeably in the evening. We recommend packing with layers in mind.
Clothing Essentials
- Daytime wear: Pack t-shirts, tank tops, and breathable skirts, light trousers, or dresses made from linen and cotton.
- Evening layers: Bring a warm sweater, fleece, denim jacket, or wrap shawl because mountain elevations cause temperatures to drop quickly after sunset.
- Pants: Include 1 to 2 pairs of comfortable long pants, leggings or jeans for cooler nights and rural excursions.
Footwear & Sun Protection
- Walking shoes: Bring broken-in, comfortable sneakers or walking shoes for uneven cobblestone streets and uneven archaeological ruins like Monte Albán.
- Sandals: Pack a pair of stylish, supportive sandals for casual daytime exploring or evenings out.
- Sun gear: Pack a wide-brim hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen since the daytime sun is intense at high altitudes.
Workout Wear
- Moisture-wicking matching sets & layers: High-quality athletic fabrics are a must. Bring breathable leggings, shorts, sports bras, and sweat-wicking tanks.
- Studio-to-street transitions: Bring lightweight oversized linen button-downs, casual t-shirts, or a stylish sweatshirt to throw over your workout gear.
Gratuities for your B&R Guide(s), all drivers, guest experts, porters, hotel staff, and restaurant staff is included in your trip price.
Restaurants and Bars
The only time you may have to tip is during one of the lunches or dinners on your own when you are free to explore.
- In most restaurants, it's customary to leave a tip equal to 10 to 20 percent of the total cost of the bill.
- At food stalls and low-cost eateries (fondas and cocinas economicas) most patrons do not leave a tip, but if you do give one, it is greatly appreciated.
- When drinking at a bar, it is appropriate to tip 20 pesos per drink, or the equivalent to $1 USD
While local currency is preferred, US dollars are also accepted.
