- Difficulty Level
Level 1: Occasional
Biking – 40-50 km (25-30 mi.) a day over relatively flat terrain with a few small hills—all very manageable for people trying their first biking trip.
Walking – 6-10 km (4-6 mi.) a day on country lanes, footpaths and coastal or forest trails, all on relatively flat terrain, perhaps with an occasional hill.
Level 2: Recreational
Biking – 40-50 km (25-30 mi.) a day over terrain that’s relatively flat but will include inclines and the occasional climb or two.
Walking – 8-12 km (5-7 mi.) a day over relatively flat terrain, with occasional steeper climbs.
Level 3: Enthusiast
Biking – 40-50 km (25-30 mi.) a day in gently rolling countryside, with occasional longer climbs to points that are well worth the effort.
Walking – 11-15 km (7-10 mi.) a day over rolling terrain on a variety of surfaces. Most days, one or two steeper climbs to spectacular viewpoints or places of interest.
Level 4: Avid
Biking – Roughly 50 km (30 mi.) a day in consistently rolling countryside, with repeated climbs and longer options available.
Walking – 11-15 km (7-10 mi.) over terrain that varies between rolling and hilly, with a few steeper climbs.
Level 5: Expert
Biking – 50-60 km (30-45 mi.) a day over both level and tougher, hillier terrain with multiple 100 km (62 mi.) options. The routes are designed for avid cyclists and include plenty of chances to push yourself.
Walking – 11-15 km (7-10 mi.) a day over fairly hilly terrain offering lots of challenges. Routes are along high meadow paths and/or well-maintained cliffside or alpine trails, with a few steep ascents to make you feel invigorated.
Chart the turquoise coast onboard the Lycian Queen
Turkey has it all: a stunning coastline of over 5,000 miles, clout as the inspiration for the word ‘turquoise’ (brought into our lexicon to describe the colour of the sea around its southern shores); breath-taking natural wonders and a rich cultural heritage encompassing Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman influences; more Greek ruins than Greece; and more Roman ruins than Italy! On this trip, you’ll experience Turkey from your luxury gulet as you sail from island to island hiking toward ancient relics and stunning coastline peaks and expanding your health and wellness outlook through a daily yoga practice (offered privately each morning from the top deck of your ship), attention to the healthy eating lifestyle of the region and countless opportunities for massage both onboard and offboard.

Day by Day
Meet your guide in Bodrum before striking out for a culinary walking tour of the city. After a delicious lunch, you'll hop over to the cosmopolitan harbour to board your sailing gulet—the Lycian Queen. Dinner and festivities onboard.
Wake up to the the view of Knidos theatre from the cabin of your yacht. Consider sunrise yoga on the deck or wait until you disembark to get your heart rate up exploring the excavations at Knidos, followed by a hike toward the small village of Kizlan.
Arrive to the peninsula of Marmaris to begin your morning hike, passing traditional villages overlooking the mountains and sea. While away the afternoon swimming, snorkeling, exploring the bay, or, you know, enjoying a good book on the sunny deck of the Lycian.
Start early—with yoga if you like—then onwards to Ekincik Beach to start your morning hike, which ends in Dalyan, a small town famous for its endangered sea turtle breeding grounds (as well as some ancient tombs!). Tonight, return to the mainland for a special meal.
This morning you'll cruise the coast in your floating hotel stopping at several delightful swimming holes before arriving to the start of your walk. You'll walk an ancient track to the site of the city of Lydae.
Disembark in Göcek, a truly gorgeous town in a bay with islands and coves a plenty. A short drive delivers you to the mountains on a trail that gently returns you to Göcek. Lunch will be at a traditional tavern and then the afternoon is yours to rest, pamper or explore.
After the usual morning routine, you'll head by vehicle to Saklikent canyon, and then onward to Pinara, once a significant city that many ancient monuments attest to. You'll explore in depth before walking to a nearby home for a specially prepared lunch by a local family. Tonight we toast to the conclusion of a great trip!
This morning relax over breakfast before disembarking at a port near the city centre of Göcek. You'll be driven to the Airport in Dalaman mid-morning or to a nearby hotel, depending on your travel plans!
Amble ancient lanes
Climb aboard the Lycian Queen, a traditional Gulet built and designed in the Black Sea region of Turkey, an area famous for high-quality ship building. At a length of 37 metres, this small-group yacht is equipped with 8 private cabins and many water-based amenities. The main deck features two different seating areas—one shaded, one sun-drenched—to enjoy meals and bask in quality “open-air” relaxation time.
I believe the level of service B&R offers is unparalleled. I don't have time to research exotic destinations and trust that B&R has the resources to do so and provide me with a truly elevated experience.—Patricia Buse
