We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

Day by Day
Wake up above the Aare river in charming Bern and journey to the village of Zweisimmen, where you’ll take the gondola up to Rinderberg. Warm up your legs with a stunning walk along the cliff to Hornberg and adventure along the Indiana Jones Trail.
Paddle your way down the river Saane on an exciting white water adventure, stopping for a savoury and oh-so-Swiss picnic lunch. Discover Gstaad’s nooks and crannies as you head out on a fun treasure hunt through this delightful mountain town.
Hike your way up into the hills surrounding Lauenensee lake. Then, prepare to put your lungs to work with an open-air yodelling lesson from one of Switzerland’s top yodellers. Dinner involves the country’s most famous culinary export—cheese fondue!
Venture into the high mountains of the Jungfrau region and begin today’s hike with a panoramic view of the famed peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Visit a cheese cave where you will learn how to make delicious Swiss cheeses yourself (and taste a few too).
Float on the gondola toward panoramic views of the Eiger’s North Face and trek to the jewel-like Bachalpsee Lake on one of Switzerland’s most spectacular trails. Dinner comes complete with authentic live music to celebrate your Swiss adventures!
Following breakfast, your driver awaits to bring you down the valley to Interlaken, which is well-connected to both Zurich and Geneva airports. Tschuss!

It seems that every moment from exploring in the breathtaking countryside to the luxury hotels, the food, the wine, the other travellers, and the excellent guides—all are the most memorable. The hardest part of the trip is the return to reality!— Betsy Sampliner
