Carbon Neutral Trip
Cycle, stretch, sip, repeat—this is Italy at its most rejuvenating, reinvigoratinng and remarkable. Pedal through sunflower fields, wander wildflower trails, and find your flow with morning yoga. Bake crostata in the hills, toast fine wines at Margot’s estate, and retreat to dreamy Reschio, one of Italy's best hotels. It’s a multi-active escape with just the right dose of magic (and vino).

Tuck in at the exclusive Reschio Estate, one of the most beautiful properties in Italy. We're the only tour group to stay here!

No two trips are ever the same, but this will give you a taste of what your journey will be like.
Day 1
Our journey begins in Pienza, where we’ll wander through the stunning landscapes of the UNESCO-protected Val d’Orcia to Tuscany’s first flower farm. Indulge in lunch among the blooms, then we’re off to Casa Newton. This evening, we’ll enjoy cocktails and dinner at the hotel with Nicole, the hotel’s General Manager.
Activity:
11 km (7 mi.) warm-up walk through the Val d’Orcia
Optional walk | 4 km (2.5 mi.)
Day 2
Set off on two wheels, pedalling past villages and gorgeous landscapes to the hamlet of Montisi for an earned espresso break. Continue to the home of our friend Margot, where we’ll indulge in lunch and a tasting from the estate’s cellars. Tonight, we’ll wander through Pienza with our local guide Francesca.
Activity:
42 km (26 mi.) bike ride from Casa Newton passing through Montisi and Trequanda | Elevation gain: 689 m (2,261 ft.)
Day 3
We’re off on a morning walk through Val di Chiana’s stunning landscapes of red poppies, sunflowers and fresh sweetgrass, eventually reaching the Celle di San Francesco. Continue to the citadel of Cortona, where we’ll explore its charming streets for lunch, then we’ll regroup this evening for a spritz and dinner overlooking the town’s main piazza.
Activity:
15 km (9 mi.) walk to Cortona via Le Celle Hermitage
Day 4
Our biking route takes us into the neighbouring Umbria, through hillsides blanketed in wildflowers and pastures of sheep and cows. We’ll reach the home of Agnieska and Francesco for a traditional crostata cooking class and garden lunch. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at the idyllic Reschio grounds before we indulge in dinner at the hotel’s fabulous restaurant.
Activity:
42 km (26 mi) ride from Cortona to Reschio | Elevation gain: 963 m (3,160 ft)
Day 5
Today’s walk begins from Reschio’s front door, where we’ll wander past fields of tobacco and wildflower into the neighboring hillside of Mount Murlo. Here, we’ll pause at an intimate agriturismo for a fresh, seasonal meal. Back at the hotel, spend the afternoon lounging poolside or relaxing at the spa. This evening, we’ll visit our friend, and celebrated chef, Masha’s home for a wonderful final dinner.

Good to know

Terrain
Tuscany and Umbria offer diverse terrain, including asphalt, dirt roads and cobblestone paths with some up and downhills. We recommend familiarity with walking in these conditions.

Driving
Due to the nature of this trip, transfers are required to and from the walks on most days.

Packing
Tuscany can have variable weather throughout the day in October. We recommend packing a Gore-Tex raincoat to stay comfortable and dry, and hiking boots or sneakers with a good grip for walking.
Why choose a Small Group trip?

An Effortless Journey
Our expert Experience Designers are perfectionists, using first-hand knowledge of routes, restaurants and hotels to create an unforgettable experience. This means all the planning is taken care of for you. All you need to do is enjoy.

Active Exploration
From emerging destinations to iconic sights, B&R trips show you the world in a new way on our expertly developed cycling, walking and hiking routes. Travelling through historic villages and romantic vineyards and up to striking viewpoints, our routes offer a variety of challenges for every activity level.

Friends for Life
Your fellow travellers are as passionate and curious about the world as you are, which means the conversations and laughs will be as free flowing as your drink of choice. Don't be surprised if your group starts planning a reunion before the trip is done.

Room for Surprises
We love a plan, but we adore a spontaneous moment even more. Whether it’s an impromptu al fresco meal or a moon-lit musical performance, our advice is to expect the unexpected.
