Northern Portugal’s Douro Valley serves up swoon-worthy scenery, soul-warming Port, and enough Roman bridges to impress Julius himself. Pedal from medieval Ponte de Lima, past vineyards and terraced farms, then cruise the Douro River with a glass of Port in hand. With cobblestones, cork trees, cool Atlantic air and culinary magic—this is Portuguese indulgence on two wheels.

Rest your head in style at properties that are anything but ordinary; from the design-forward Maison Albar–Amoure set in the rolling hills near Braga, to a historic 250-year-old wine estate in the heart of the Douro, and the Six Senses, where wellness, wine, and riverside views come together in perfect harmony.

Good to know

Spa services
Most of the hotels on this trip have incredible spas and spa services. We recommend booking these in advance with your guide.

Terrain
Portugal offers diverse terrain which can include cobblestone roads when entering towns and steep hills. We recommend familiarity with biking in these conditions and an e-bike for non avid cyclists.

Time of Year
Spring in the Douro Valley offers flowers, refreshing weather, and smaller crowds. During fall's harvest season, vineyards are slightly busier and the grapes are still on the vines.
