Day 1

Walk the ruins of Yucay—famous for its Inca tombs and agricultural terracing. Pause for a lunch of local delicacies amongst a secluded eucalyptus forest, then we’ll enjoy a special performance by a paco. This evening, we’ll enjoy the perfect blend of contemporary Peruvian cuisine and the time-honoured traditions of Andean cooking.

Day 2

Our hike begins in Moray, where we’ll visit some of the most unusual Inca ruins in the area. Along the way, we’ll stop for lunch at a charming local restaurant. Then, we’re off to explore the Maras salt terraces. Tonight, we’ll visit our local friend’s house for a home-cooked meal.

Day 3

Venture up to the Wari ruins of Pumamarca before wandering the cobblestone streets of Ollantaytambo, a still-functioning Inca Town. After all that walking, a traditional Peruvian pachamanca lunch awaits. Tonight, we’ll get our rest to conquer the Inca Trail tomorrow.

Day 4

Journey by train along the Urubamba River to the jungle entrance of the Inca Trail where you'll embark on one of the most spectacular hiking trails in the world. Take in views of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate at sunset and toast to a once-in-a-lifetime achievement.

Day 5

Awake in our glorious jungle hotel, then embark on a full exploration of the historic site. Tonight, enjoy music and dining aboard the legendary Hiram Bingham Train as we journey back to Cusco.

Day 6

Hike the Inca Highway into Cusco via Sacsayhuaman, following a trail of small hills, water channels and Inca ruins all the way to Cusco. Enjoy lunch in town before setting out and exploring Cusco city, once the Inca capital. Tonight, raise your glass to an incredible adventure through Peru.

While this is a once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list activity, the Inca Trail itself is a challenging hike without any options for easy-outs or modifications. There is no road or helicopter support, making rescues challenging and reserved for emergencies.

Machu Picchu sits at 2,400 metres above sea level and Cusco sits at 3,400 metres above sea level. Please contact your Travel Advisor for any questions and consult your doctor for any concerns around elevation.

Inca Trail and Machu Picchu Mountain requires an entrance pass. With government restrictions on the number of daily visitors, passes are not guaranteed. Passes will be requested at the time of booking and requires a scanned copy of your passport.
