Carbon Neutral Trip
Intrepid women have been hiking the Camino de Santiago for centuries—and we're proud to follow in their footsteps. Wander cobblestone lanes, toast independence at Palacio de Canedo, and saunter through vineyard-speckled valleys. Pilgrim past historic chapels, meet trailblazing local women, and finish at Galicia, where rugged mountain coastlines lead to the lighthouse at the end of the world.

Preview the itinerary
No two trips are ever the same, but this will give you a taste of what your journey will be like.
Day 1
Wind your way downhill from the Cruz de Ferro, following cobblestone roads to El Bierzo. We'll then meet Paula who will share stories and the hotel's history from a female’s perspective over a tasting of their organic wines. For our first evening together, we'll indulge in a fabulous locally sourced meal.
Activity:
12 km (7 mi.) walk to the Camino's iconic Iron Cross | Elevation gain: 423 m (1,387 ft.)
Day 2
Wander to Galicia via O’ Cebreiro, a stunning mountain village. Pause for lunch in front of the church of Santa Maria, then we’ll head to our gorgeous hotel to settle in. This evening, our female guide will take us on a tour of the historic college in Monforte, and we’ll meet our friend Maria for cocktails to hear stories about women’s independence in Spain.
Activity:
12 km (7 mi.) pilgrimage trail walk in O’ Cebreiro | Elevation gain: 680 m (2,230 ft.)
Day 3
Walk through the heart of the Ribera Sacra, discovering rushing canyon rivers and cascading cliffside vineyards as we make our way to a local winery for lunch and a tasting. This afternoon, join a yoga session led by a female instructor or unwind at the hotel spa before we regroup for dinner at the hotel’s fabulous restaurant.
Activity:
8 km walk (5 mi.) Ribera Sacra loop | Elevation gain: 265 m (869 ft.)
Day 4
Wander past Lavacolla’s sacred stream, then enjoy the first views of Santiago from the Monte do Gozo. Once we hit the town, we’ll pause for a tapas-style lunch. This evening, we’ll wander through town with our local guide Maria and hear about important historical female figures, like Rosalia de Castro who worked and lived in Santiago.
Activity:
12 km (7 mi.) walk from O Paio to Santiago, via the Mount of Joy | Elevation gain: 142 m (500 ft.)
Day 5
Our route takes us along Galicia’s rugged coastline, from Playa Langosteria to Cape Finisterre. Enjoy a light lunch on your own, then we’re off to our final hotel for a relaxing afternoon by the pool or ocean. This evening, we’ll raise our glass to our week of adventures.
Activity:
12 km (7 mi.) rugged coastal walk along the Costa de la Muerte to km 0 of the Camino and back into town | Elevation gain: 273 m (900 ft.)
Day 6
After one final breakfast, we’ll say our goodbyes.

Good to know

Accommodation
The Camino de Santiago offers simpler accommodation, which does not always include twin beds. B&R has access to the best in the region, where luxury presents itself in the form of local charm, comfort and great service.

Packing
Hiking shoes are not required for the Camino de Santiago. We’d recommend packing hybrid/trail shoes.

Getting there/home
We recommend arriving in Madrid before the trip and taking the high-speed train to Leon. After the trip, we recommend flying home from Santiago airport.
