Provence is all sun, scent, and soul—with just enough swagger. Cycle from Luberon’s perched villages to the Alpilles’ rocky drama, guided by our off-the-beaten-path intel. Sip legendary vintages, meet locals who’ve perfected the art of charm, and if you’re feeling bold, climb Mont Ventoux (bragging rights included). Self-guided, but never short on magic.

Set off on quintessential countryside rides, weaving through flat valleys, hilltop medieval stone villages and fields of fragrant lavender.

Experience the enchanting Provençal light that once inspired Van Gogh, guided by a local who brings his world to life.

Challenge yourself and cycle the Tour de France’s Mont Ventoux, one of the most famous climbs in Tour’s history.
Preview the itinerary
No two trips are ever the same, but this will give you a taste of what your journey will be like.
Day 1
The first day’s afternoon warm-up ride explores the valley in the shadow of the Lubéron hills, with a stop at the delightful village of Roussillon, known for its tiny cobble-stoned streets lined with a colourful array of village houses, cafes, and inviting little shops.
Activity:
27 km (17 mi.) loop ride on rolling terrain from Gordes to tiny Joucas and into the red earth village of Roussillon, then back to Gordes | Elevation gain: 416 m (1,364 ft.)
Optional ride | 38 km (24 mi.) | Elevation gain: 716 m (2,349 ft.)
Day 2
Today you’ll explore the incredible perched villages of the Lubéron, spotting a 12 c. necropolis and crossing a two-thousand-year-old Roman Bridge as you ride. Dinner tonight is at your hotel, where the chef will surprise you with his creative cuisine.
Activity:
49 km (30 mi.) hilly ride with uphills into the hilltop villages and beautiful flat riding in the valleys in between | Elevation gain: 684 m (2,244 ft.)
Day 3
Today poses two route options to the base of Mont Ventoux, depending on how much of a challenge you would like. The first option is a short but hilly stretch across the stunning Gorges de La Venasque and the second is an ascent through the wild wooded valleys of Murs to Sault. As part of your trip you’ll enjoy dinner tonight at your hotel’s newly renovated restaurant, Jérôme Blanchet.
Activity:
42 km (26 mi.) starting with a long gentle climb into the woods | Elevation gain: 645 m (2,116 ft.)
Optional ride | 85 km (52 mi.) | Elevation gain: 1,336 m (4,383 ft.)
Optional ride | 91 km (56 mi.) | Elevation gain: 2,118 m (6,949 ft.)
Day 4
A morning ride will take you to the famous village of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a well-known centre of antique merchants, where you'll stop for lunch. Later you'll cross the gorgeous Durance River into the region known as Les Alpilles.
Activity:
61 km (38 mi.) mostly flat ride | Elevation gain: 425 m (1,394 ft.)
Day 5
Explore both sides of Les Alpilles, the small range of rocky mountains protected as a national park. Bike through olive groves and lush orchards towards the mountain-top village of Les Baux. Later, meet a local guide for a walking tour through a fascinating part of Van Gogh’s life.
Activity:
49 km (30 mi.) of moderate biking including the lunar landscape of Les Alpilles | Elevation gain: 524 m (1,719 ft.)

Good to know

Terrain
Terrain Provence offers diverse terrain which includes steep hills. We recommend choosing an e-bike if you don't ride hills regularly.

Pre and Post trip
If you have extra time, consider extending your trip with a visit to the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur,) or the Calanques National Park, both conveniently close by.

Food
Provençal cuisine is simple yet flavourful, featuring market-fresh ingredients and Côtes du Rhône wines. Savour dishes like rosemary-wrapped chèvre, olive tapenade, and pissaladière, with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.

Restaurant reservations
Some of the restaurants in the area require reservations. We recommend booking these in advance with your Experience Designer.
