Worlds both old and new meet in Quebec

Sample Canada’s most European province through its cheeses, wine, sparkling lakes and delightful city streets, travelling along roads that wind past old ancestral homes, covered bridges, historic churches and chapels. Rural antique shops abound, full of charming trinkets from the past and crafts by local artisans. Come wintertime, a blanket of snow covers the landscape in a soft, white glitter. Here are a few highlights to inspire your bespoke itinerary.

Montreal to Quebec City Biking

From cosmopolitan Montreal to history-rich Quebec City (by way of the Eastern Townships, a Loyalist enclave of beautiful woodland biking), bike Montreal’s green alleyways—a vast network of community-beautified lanes and paths that run throughout town, ride on the famous Lachine Canal bike path, followed by a gorgeous picnic in the park, and cruise into stately North Hatley aboard Captain Ross’s 1957 mahogany boat for a sunset ride.

Adventure awaits at every turn, whether it be canoeing, fencing, rock climbing or taking the zodiac out on the bay. Picnic along the Chemin du la Fraîcheur (Route of Freshness, no less) with cider, foie gras and seasonal berries—to start. Tackle a Via Ferrata at Mont du Lac des Cygnes and spot Canadian wildlife up close on Baie Sainte Catherine.
