We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”

Intimate access meets next-level luxury
Cambodia and Vietnam: a magical combination in Southeast Asia. Visit Angkor Wat, enjoying the wonderful culture and people of Cambodia—the jungle scenery is straight from a picture book. Then, it’s on to Vietnam, still as charming and picturesque as the first time we visited here more than a decade ago. Most importantly, the people remain the same: gracious, warm, and infinitely inviting. We’ll journey down the Mekong River on the luxurious Aqua Mekong, exploring the waterway’s diversity of life and classic visions of Vietnam: rice paddies, water buffalo, sampans, temples, and countless smiling locals.

As we walked, our most memorable moments were those that involved interaction with the people we encountered. My husband, a teacher, was thrilled to interact with school children, and we were invited to share a beer in one house and look at the bonsai garden in another! The guides on the trip were knowledgeable and forthcoming, and the occasional surprises were a blast! There was little more you could ask for from B&R.— Diana Jacobs
