Enter an elemental landscape
The Dolomites’ stunning peaks have drawn foreign mountaineers for centuries, yet somehow remain one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. On this trip, we will explore the winter wonders of two gorgeous corners of the incredible Dolomites mountain region: the Alpe di Siusi and the Alta Badia. The elemental and dramatic nature of the region will be revealed as we travel by foot, snow shoe, skis and, yes, the occasional sled ride (time to bring out your child-like wonder). Between mountain hut cappuccino breaks and hearty meals, outdoor pools, and a multifaceted approach to traversing the snow-blanketed terrain you’ll experience the area’s hospitable people and culture, fabulous hotels, and all the spa time one deserves after an invigorating day in the snow-clad mountains.

Consider rising for early morning yoga before your first earnest trek directly from the hotel to a gorgeous alpine meadow. Swap shoes for sleds and cruise down a well-crafted toboggan run to arrive to lunch. This afternoon soak, steam or sauna—it's up to you!
On cross-country skis glide along a beautiful loop trail that noses through the middle and lower meadows. Pause at a mountain hut of your choosing for lunch and then return to the hotel at your leisure to take advantage of the exceptional spa services. Tonight's dinner is not one you will soon forget!
Hike uphill breathing in that fresh alpine air before arriving to a local alpine farm where you'll gain insight into the preparation of a regional favourite. After some sampling you'll head back to the hotel by foot. Tonight, dine at your leisure in your hotel's dining room.
Strapped to skis (or snowboard) you'll bid farewell to the Alpina Dolomites and begin the traverse to your next hotel! Circumnavigate the Sella massif on a series of wonderful slopes with stunning views.
Arrive to the uniquely formed Cinque Torri (Five Towers) ski area, where you can explore the WWI open-air musuem before skiing the northern slopes beneath Mount Averau. Rosa Alpina, San Cassiano
Rosa Alpina has earned its Relais & Châteaux and Michelin accolades, but what we love most about this understated retreat is its warm hospitality. We also appreciated all the special details you thought to include—the special dinners, the night at the hut, etc. It was really one of our most enjoyable trips. We would not hesitate to recommend you.—Jennifer Hannah
