Tented Charm in Hwange National Park
Pitched along the edge of an ancient seasonal flood plain, Somalisa Camp, in the heart of Hwange National Park, bears witness to one of few remaining great elephant sanctuaries in Africa. Lucky for you, in this authentic bush camp elephants brazenly sidle up to the “Elephant Hole” at the edge of the camp’s wooden deck and take their fill. A natural watering hole just a few metres beyond allows for larger crowds to congregate (again, of the elephant variety). Don’t worry, plunge pool, open-deck homestyle dining and tented residences that are infused with old-world charm mean that those of the human variety get to have some fun too.Spectacular Stays

The seven tented suites form a loose horseshoe around the main encampment and rest under a copse of acacia trees. In proper tent fashion the roof and walls are made of canvas with the ability to roll up the siding as you see fit. That’s about as far as the tent experience goes though: en-suite facilities grace each tent (with an indoor and outdoor shower), dark teak furnishings elegantly litter the room and a glass-wood fireplace sits primed for colder nights.
