This means that families who cannot afford to send their children to the Kuska School can still enroll their children in classes alongside their peers. As the only local education offering in rural Ollantaytambo, the school utilizes the multi-cultural environment to nurture individual creativity for local children, and the curriculum is focusing on developing each child at their own pace.Kuska School offers a multi-grade educational environment, accommodation for visiting guest teachers, and a fully organic farm.

Discover how B&R’s Slow Fund supports the Kuska School in Ollantaytambo, Peru, helping provide accessible education rooted in community, creativity and nature.

Want to see Machu Picchu after the tourists have gone? We find the best way is to sleep next door at the stunning Sanctuary Lodge. During waking hours you’ll explore the ruins of the Sacred Valley and hike the cloud forests of the Inca Trail before hopping the Hiram Bingham Train back to Cusco for a final night dinner in an ancient Incan palace. While this is a once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list activity, the Inca Trail itself is a challenging hike without any options for easy-outs or modifications. There is no road or helicopter support, making rescues challenging and reserved for emergencies.
