Butterfield &amp; Robinson puts <a href="https://www.butterfield.com/places-to-go/north-america/mexico">Mexico</a> back on the B&amp;R map with new adventures that go beyond the expected and into the heart of the country’s rich culture, landscapes and spirit. We caught up with <a href="https://www.butterfield.com/meet-the-designers/dane-tredway">Experience Designer Dane Tredway</a>—whose research trip inspired these new trips—to talk about the what’s fresh and exciting in the country and what travellers can expect from our Small Group and Bespoke offerings.&nbsp;Though technically not a new region for B&amp;R, what inspired you to reignite our focus in Mexico?&nbsp;&nbsp;As we grow our North American trips, I was especially excited to revisit Mexico with fresh energy. There was a real opportunity to reintroduce it in a meaningful way—both for us and for our travellers—and the timing just felt right. What’s particularly exciting is that few other companies offer active travel in Mexico, especially beyond the traditional tourist circuit. During my recent visit, that gap was a recurring theme—there’s tremendous potential to take travellers off the beaten path and connect them with the country’s rich culture, landscapes and cuisine in a way that only B&amp;R can. Our new <a href="https://www.butterfield.com/trip/small-group/markets-to-mountains-in-oaxaca-mexico">60th Anniversary</a> and <a href="https://www.butterfield.com/trip/bespoke/mexico-bespoke">Bespoke</a> trips are the perfect way to explore this potential—offering one-of-a-kind experiences and reimagining Mexico with creativity and authenticity.&nbsp;

After returning from your research trip earlier this year, what were your first impressions?&nbsp;&nbsp;My first impressions were overwhelmingly positive. The Yucatán in particular was a pleasant surprise for biking—it’s flatter than I expected, with quiet, well-paved roads and plenty of hard-packed dirt trails perfect for casual riding or family-friendly adventures. Oaxaca offered an equally rich experience, though it has a distinctly different feel. Both regions showed strong potential, and I had some inspiring conversations on the ground—the ideas started flowing right away. &nbsp;Beyond its beaches, Mexico remains a bit of a mystery to many travellers. What kinds of activities can they expect on a B&amp;R trip? &nbsp;Mexico offers so much—there’s a diverse mix of culture, history, design and nature waiting to be explored. For active travellers, biking is a surprise, with quiet, flat roads and scenic trails to navigate. In the Yucatán, travellers can visit Mayan ruins like Ek Balam and Chichén Itzá, swim in private cenotes, kayak through mangroves and hike the Camino de Mayab. Oaxaca brings a different flavour, with mezcal tastings at agave farms, artisan workshops in textiles and printmaking, tours of Monte Albán, incredible museums and galleries. Add in traditional cooking classes and city tours, and you’ve got a destination that truly offers something for everyone.&nbsp;

What are you most excited for our travellers to experience?&nbsp;Oh, where to start! While many of our travellers know Mexico for its beaches, I’m most excited to show them a completely different side of the country, one that’s full of culture, history and unexpected adventure. The show-stopping Chablé Yucatán is an exceptional property with delicious food, atmosphere and a truly off-the-beaten-path feel. One of the most memorable stays is Casa Silencio, a striking mezcal distillery-meets-hotel tucked in the hills outside Oaxaca City—perfect for a dramatic finale to any day.&nbsp;
