If there’s one thing we’ve learned over our 50-plus years in business, it’s that biking and walking both tend to be activities best done by land. But truth be told, we’ve always had a love affair with the sea. (If you ever get the chance to buy George Butterfield a glass of wine, ask him about Shipwreck Travels—actually, better make it a bottle of wine.)
So it’s no surprise that one of our most intriguing trips takes us to the ocean’s edge in France’s version of Nantucket Island. Because if there’s anything better than flat biking with an ocean breeze at your back, it’s the tray of oysters waiting for you at the end of the ride.
