We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

Wedged between the Kalahari and the South Atlantic, Namibia enjoys vast potential as one of the youngest countries in Africa. In addition to having a striking diversity of cultures and national origins, Namibia is a photographer’s dream – it boasts wild seascapes, rugged mountains, lonely deserts, stunning wildlife, colonial cities and nearly unlimited elbow room. We start our journey with a remarkable culturally focused experience in former Bushmanland, spending time interpreting nature with one of Namibia’s oldest cultural groups, the San. We continue with game viewing with a focus on large mammals in the great Etosha National Park. Our focus shifts to conservation at Okanjima, one of the most successful wildlife sanctuaries for Africa’s big cats before we climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei and gaze at stars from a lodge’s observatory.
