    Signature

We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.

    Bistro

These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

Beyond Mysticism in the Himalayas

Challenge yourself with a stunning high-altitude hike to the remote corners of Bhutan. Following the Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek for four nights, your gear is transported on horseback, leaving you free to soak in the incredible views and visit with the local mountain herders. Along the way, you’ll dive deep into the particulars of Bhutanese culture (including their philosophy on national happiness), learn Buddhist practices, discuss local legends, and find plenty of opportunity for your own meditation practice. You’ll leave having encountered some of the world’s highest summits and experienced a lunar alpine wilderness like you’ve never seen before.

Enthusiast

This trip is rated Moderate. Daily distances usually vary from 2 to 8 km, with longer and shorter options on most days. The terrain is generally hilly. The difficulty of the walk often depends on elevation, and we allow time for acclimatization by offering our higher hikes later in the trip. The walking routes are usually in good shape but some rougher sections of trail do occur.

The Traveller

“I go on a long walk once a week, and I don’t mind a little sweat.”

The Terrain

Rolling terrain on a variety of surfaces. Most days, one or two steeper climbs to spectacular viewpoints or places of interest.
