Activity Level
Easygoing to Moderate
We rate this trip as Easygoing to Moderate. Our average bike ride is 35 km, with longer options available. Our first two days in Mosel-Germany allow you to warm up your legs, as the terrain is mostly flat along the Mosel River. Alsace is hillier, including the most challenging climbs of the week, interspersed with easygoing rides. In Champagne we return to flat and gently rolling routes, though hillier options abound for those looking for a workout. Important note: Walks of 6 to 10 km are available on selected days of the trip. The walking terrain varies from forest paths to vineyards to quiet unpaved roads, and in general is of moderate difficulty.
