Southeast Asia Family Travel
Cambodia and Vietnam—a magical and diverse combination in South East Asia. We start in Cambodia and Angkor Wat to enjoy the wonderful culture and people of Cambodia. Civilizations from the past built gigantic monuments to their religions, and many were lost, forgotten, or destroyed during wars. There is an abundance of history to learn here, and the jungle scenery is straight from a picture book. Vietnam is as charming, picturesque and as wondrous as the first time we visited here more than a decade ago and most importantly, the people remain the same: gracious, warm, and infinitely inviting. We will explore this country from South to North with perfect rice paddy bike rides in central Vietnam.
We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.
“I can’t say I really ‘work out,’ but I’m in good shape and am relatively active.”
“I enjoy a good walk or ride, and feel comfortable while on the move.”
“I get moving at least once a week, and don’t mind a little sweat.”
“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”
“I want to feel invigorated each day and going hard is how I like to do that.”

Day by Day
We will pick you up at the airport today in a private car and take you to your first hotel. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing in the village-sized swimming pool and getting over jet lag. You will meet your local Khmer guide in the early evening for cocktails and discuss the following day’s plans.
Bike or walk into the heart of the Cambodia countryside to explore the local Khmer temples. Discover the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat where our local guide describes this awe-inspiring temple that has defied time and nature for more than 700 years. At nightfall, enjoy dinner at our favourite local restaurant in town.
Arrive in Bayon in the early morning to explore the temples with our local guide. Lunchtime provides a chance to explore the magnificent grounds of our French-colonial hotel and the afternoon is yours to hike through the Cambodia countryside, venture to the glorious flight of the Gibbon zip line, or ride on the Ton le Sap lake.
Explore the wild jungle temple of Ta Prohm and bike or walk past the temples of Angkor Wat, the Elephant Terrace and the gates of Angkor Thom one last time. After a short flight to Hoi An, meet your local Vietnamese guide for a walking tour of the town followed by a dinner on your own in one of the wonderful small restaurants nearby.
Visit the market to watch the women haggle over the day’s fresh fish catch or visit the stalls offering the freshest vegetables in Hoi An. Ride past traditional rice paddies interspersed with ancestral tombs, water buffalo and hundreds of smiling children, and finish at our favourite restaurant in town which offers authentic dishes.
Today you can choose between exploring the marvelous Cham Temple of My Son or taking a local ferry crossing to ride through some fantastic rice fields and local villages. Finish the day with a delicious fusion dinner at our friend Duc's restaurant.
Take a mid day flight to Hanoi and take a cyclo ride along tree-lined boulevards, experiencing the city’s historic architecture and the capital’s delightfully chaotic street life. Our final night culminates in an unforgettable dinner at our favourite market style restaurant.
Today you’ll have time for some last minute shopping (depending on your flight time) before we transfer you to the airport.
