Hotels:
Signature

Signature

We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.

Bistro

These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

Day by Day

Welcome to the Pacific Northwest! Start the adventure by crossing Puget Sound on one of Washington's historic ferries and taking a short hike or beach walk. After your welcome dinner, enjoy the evening at your leisure, perhaps taking a stroll along the shore.

Drive to Potlatch State Park for a bike journey through thick stands of Western Hemlock, Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar. Enjoy a picnic lunch along banks of the Skokomish River and stop for a tour (and tasting!) of the renowned Hama Hama Oyster Farm.

Explore Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge, a great area for bird-watching and spotting marine mammals, before heading up into the Olympic Mountains to choose from a number of hikes. Back down at sea-level, visit Finn River Cidery for a tour and tasting.

Set out for South Whidbey Island State Park along the western shore to begin today's cycling adventure. Head north along bluffs overlooking Puget Sound until reaching the charming town of Coupeville to indulge in some world-famous Penn Cove Mussels.

Drive to Deception Pass State Park, the most popular state park in Washington, with nearly 40 miles of trails spread out over 4,000 acres. Cycle across the 976-foot bridge spanning the pass towards Anacortes, stopping along the way at Rosario Beach's tide pools.

Head to Lime Kiln State Park and Haro Strait in search of harbor seals, Stellar sea lions, Dall's porpoise and orcas. Cycle south towards the Cattle Point Lighthouse before spending the afternoon whale-watching on your own private boat.

This morning, head to either Lopez or Orcas Island to explore marinas and villages, bike scenic pathways, or hike hidden trails. Return to Friday Harbor and head to Duck Soup Inn, regarded as the best restaurant in San Juan, for a farewell dinner.

Enjoy a final breakfast in Friday Harbor before boarding a late-morning seaplane bound for Seattle. Soak in the aerial views of the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, Puget Sound and the iconic Seattle skyline before landing on Lake Union in the heart of the city.
