We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.

“I enjoy a good walk or ride, and feel comfortable while on the move.”
“I get moving at least once a week, and don’t mind a little sweat.”
“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”
“I want to feel invigorated each day and going hard is how I like to do that.”

Day by Day
Bid farewell to civilization and hit the open road toward Los Glaciares National Park. Spend the evening taking in views of epic Fitz Roy, the legendary granite peak just across the lake in El Chaltén.
Hit the trails behind our hotel (by foot or by horseback), coming to rest at Blue Lagoon (a site that no photo can possibly do justice). Then, head back to the lodge—perhaps accompanied by some curious
Traverse a former cattle trail on a beautiful hike stopping along the way at Punta del Viento, the azure waters of Lake Viedma and (for the keen hikers) Laguna del Mo.
Wave goodbye to the pink flamingos and Lago Viedma as you make your way back to Calafate. After lunch at a local friend's house, settle into hotel Eolo, your home for the next three nights.
Rise early for an unforgettable view of Perito Moreno glacier in the morning light. Then, head down to Lago Argentino for a closer look at the face of this ice mass (big enough to fit all of Buenos Aires within its borders).
Depending on your preference today, either journey into Patagonia's backcountry by 4x4 or head further south into the much less travelled glacial valley of Lago Frias.
Make your way to Torres del Paine National Park, arriving at the extraordinary Explora Lodge—your home for the next three nights—in time for dinner and discussion of the adventures that lay ahead.
Wake up to dramatic views of the Torres del Paine’s three imposing granite peaks. In the company of the lodge’s supremely qualified local guides, you'll spend the next few days exploring the amazing activities the Explora Lodge has to offer.
Visit the Laguna Verde, the incredible hanging Glacier Frances, the Salto Grande waterfall and, of course, the Torres del Paine themselves. Options abound here, ranging from laid back activities to full-day excursions by foot or horseback. Take your pick!
This morning, take in your last panoramic views of the Torres del Paine at the Explora Lodge. A complimentary transfer to the airport in Punta Arenas will be available if you wish. Adiós!

The walking really varies given the choices available to us most days. Walking distances of up to 8 km (5 mi.) are possible over mixed terrain, sometimes relatively flat but on occasion you can choose to push yourself with more challenging topography. In addition to walking you will have the opportunity to horseback ride.
“I go on a long walk once a week, and I don’t mind a little sweat.”
Rolling terrain on a variety of surfaces. Most days, one or two steeper climbs to spectacular viewpoints or places of interest.Read more on our Activity Levels
