We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.
“I can’t say I really ‘work out,’ but I’m in good shape and am relatively active.”
“I enjoy a good walk or ride, and feel comfortable while on the move.”
“I get moving at least once a week, and don’t mind a little sweat.”
“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”
“I want to feel invigorated each day and going hard is how I like to do that.”
Here, life moves at a slower pace
Here is a nation that, for many, feels largely undiscovered, yet is one of the gems of Southeast Asia—and one of the most extraordinary trips in B&R’s long history. From biking the lush countryside to strolling through ancient villages and spectacular temples, to floating along the current in a riverboat, we take in Myanmar at a pace that reflects the gentle character of the country and reveals a land that will forever live in your imagination. Thankfully, the Burmese encourage us to return.

Day by Day
Fly from Yangon to northwestern Myanmar and then take lunch at a local winery (seriously). From here, cycle past sugar cane fields and through quiet, local villages.
Cross Inle Lake to the bustling stilt village of Nam Pan to check out the local style of weaving using lotus root instead of cotton.
Meet some of our friends at a small nunnery in the region before flying to Bagan. That afternoon, bike around the old temples exploring them in depth with our local expert.
Embark on a ride to view one of the best-preserved temples, the magnificent Ananda Pahto. Visit a local lacquer ware producer to see the incredibly skilled craftsmen at work and perhaps do some shopping.
Take a morning flight to Ngapali Beach and start your walk through rice paddies and plantations, emerging in the village of Kyauk Sate. Stop in at a toddy palm plantation before gliding serenely down the Thandwe River.
Our walk today will hug the coast, ending at the fishing village of Gyeiktaw. On foot, tour the fish market and pick up some fresh supplies for our BBQ lunch on the neighbouring Pearl Island.
After breakfast, fly to Yangon to catch international connections or to stay a few extra days.

Arriving at Inle Lake to an amazing overwater bungalow and divine sunset views. The final night on the sandbar for dinner and concert with a full moon was quite incredible!
We never wanted to be the biggest travel company in the world, just the best.

Biking is a way of life in Myanmar and undoubtedly the best way to soak up its lush countryside and encounter the gracious Burmese people. Pedal through ancient villages that seem right out of an Indiana Jones movie, stopping to visit hillside temples and meet with artisans such as traditional silk weavers and lacquerware craftsmen.National Geographic Traveler
The terrain is generally flat throughout our daily rides of 20-30 km (12-19 mi.), although you should expect a few hills and some dirt roads in the countryside, some of which can be busy and potholed. Our walks are mostly through small villages and towns. To avoid midday heat, the days tend to start early.
“I can’t say I really work out, but I am active a couple of times a week.”
Country lanes, footpaths, and coastal or forest trails, all on relatively flat terrain, perhaps with an occasional hill.Read more on our Activity Levels
