We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.
“I can’t say I really ‘work out,’ but I’m in good shape and am relatively active.”
“I enjoy a good walk or ride, and feel comfortable while on the move.”
“I get moving at least once a week, and don’t mind a little sweat.”
“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”
“I want to feel invigorated each day and going hard is how I like to do that.”
Secluded coves & stunning coastal walks
We first introduced a walking trip in Mallorca in the early aughts, smitten as we were with its similarities to our beloved Amalfi Coast. More than a decade later, we’re thrilled to find that little has changed: the region still boasts incredible undulating coastal walks, secluded coves, the smell of citrus everywhere, and remarkable hotels in unforgettable settings. Not to mention superb cuisine, with wines to match. Since our first foray the island has become well-known as a hardcore cyclist’s paradise, but we are proud to once again invite walkers to discover corners with even more cachet, far from the reach of wheels. The terrain is not easy, but richly rewarding for those willing to plant heel above toe, and discover one of the great sensual secrets of the Mediterranean.

Day by Day
Escape the interior of the island where we begin our first walk following quiet local roads and farmer's paths through orchards and past dramatic vistas of the Tramuntana mountain range. This evening, enjoy cocktails on the terrace of the hotel and a relaxed dinner of tapas both classic and innovative to Spain and Mallorca. We'll be discovering some great Mallorcan wines to accompany them.
The next morning we set off early for the island’s secluded Alcudia Peninsula to explore enchanting natural nooks, many of which are only accessible by foot. Spend the morning walking the trails and taking in views of cliff-top vistas, turquoise waters and secluded white sand beaches below. This afternoon we stop for dinner in Pollença and finish off the day with dinner in one of our favourite restaurants on the island.
This morning explore the Cap de Formentor, one of the island's most dramatic coastal landscapes. Lunch this afternoon is aboard our private sailboat, as we take in the stunning views of our surroundings.
Today we head to the Port of Soller. From the beach of Repic, we’ll enjoy a café con leche, before we continue on an old medieval pilgrimage trail, surrounded by olive and citrus orchards as well as unforgettable coastal views. Choose to walk down to the Cove of Deia for a cerveza or a swim before arriving to the hotel on foot.
Enjoy breakfast on the terrace and then head out for a beautiful walk up to Puig Gros. Tonight you'll accompany an artist into their home and studio to hear about their work first hand. End the evening will cocktails and dinner at the hotel restaurant.
After breakfast together, we’ll transfer to airport of Palma de Mallorca before we say our farewells. From there, you can connect to points elsewhere in Spain for your return flight home or to continue your travels in Europe.
Son Brull Hotel & Spa, Pollenca
Deep in the valley opening onto the Bay of Pollença, among groves of fruit and olive trees, lies a 16thC convent that has been converted into one of the most stylish five-star boutique hotels in Mallorca. Forever searching for the next great getaway, 12 years ago our researchers were the first people to make reservations at the newly-opened Son Brull, and B&R is proud to return here year after year. La Residencia, Mallorca
La Residencia, a 17thC manor house turned divine hotel has everybody talking including the folks at Condé Nast Traveler. Rumour has it the King of Spain has been known to drop in, as well as British royalty and several pop stars. Do they come for the spa treatments, the secluded gardens, the restaurant renowned as one of the best in all of Spain or to hear the 1887 Steinway piano? We suspect all of the above. I don’t know how B&R does it – the quality of their trips is so consistently high! Just when we think they couldn’t do anything as good as our last trip, they do! Another fantastic experience with B&R.— Carolyn Zaslaw
We never wanted to be the biggest travel company in the world, just the best.
— George Butterfield
The walks range in difficulty based on the variety of terrain we cover in order to explore the best of the island. Travellers should be prepared for a few vigourous uphill climbs. There are also a few precipitous drops, which although not dangerous, could be viewed as intimidating. All are rewarded by the beauty and unparallelled views that could not be accessed without some strenuous effort. Please note that van support is unavailable given the inaccessibility of the trails by vehicle. We prefer on these days to have 2 guides on the trail and leave the van at the end of the route.
“I walk regularly and enjoy the feeling of achievement I get from a good hike.”
Varies between rolling and hilly, with a few steeper climbs.Read more on our Activity Levels
