Holland Bike Tour
Where Everything’s an Art Form
It’s little wonder the Dutch masters were so inspired to paint Holland’s rich landscape. For a nation in which many live below sea level, the high points are everywhere apparent. Here in the legendary land of tulips and windmills, we navigate our way by pedalling the endless towpaths, bikepaths, polders and dykes that dot the land. We weave our way along, taking in the remarkable coastal dunes, dining on fresh fish, exploring the picturesque villages along the way, and even enjoying a Michelin two-starred meal. The journey is quite simply a masterpiece.

We use premium hotels that are unique expressions of the region. Often they’ve had a previous life as a monastery or a castle, but in every case they offer an exceptionally comfortable stay.
These are stylish 4-star properties that offer a casual and comfortable stay. Often without a 24-hour concierge or room service, they tend to be smaller family-run hotels that are perfect for the region.
“I can’t say I really ‘work out,’ but I’m in good shape and am relatively active.”
“I enjoy a good walk or ride, and feel comfortable while on the move.”
“I get moving at least once a week, and don’t mind a little sweat.”
“I get moving a few times per week and enjoy some exertion.”
“I want to feel invigorated each day and going hard is how I like to do that.”

Day by Day
Begin riding to the lovely old port of Zierikzee, near the Oosterschelde estuary. Savour a Dutch-style picnic lunch aboard the Vrolijke Visser (“Happy Fisherman”) while marveling at the ingenuity by which the Dutch keep the sea at bay. If you like fresh and creative gourmet seafood, dinner tonight is sure to become one of your favourite meals!
Visit Yerseke, the centre of the Dutch oyster and mussel trade and the beautiful village of Goes. Explore the town and its small, hidden harbour, shop for souvenirs and have a casual bistro lunch.
After our coach shuttle bring us north, cycle past Kinderdijk’s iconic 19 windmills and into the gorgeous Groene Hart region. A stop at our friend Ineke’s farm shows us how Gouda is made, then we’ll fuel up on savoury Dutch pancakes beside a windmill before rolling on through charming towns, past swans and lambs and cottages.
Explore Gouda and St. Jans church, famed for its stained-glass windows. Roll past cow pastures to the lovely old town of Delft where we'll meet our local art historian-guide. Enjoy your elegant digs in The Hague, then warm up for dinner with a jenever (Dutch gin) tasting in town.
Tour the popular Keukenhof Gardens and ride through colourful Dutch bulb fields while our local guide tells us everything we need to know about tulips.
Enjoy a farewell breakfast at the hotel before saying tot ziens. Stay on to explore The Hague’s museums and shopping, or hop a train back to Amsterdam.
