About The Slow Road
As the blog of Butterfield & Robinson, the world’s premier active travel company, at The Slow Road we don’t “cover” a country or region, we immerse ourselves in it. We view the open road as an invitation, be it into a vintner’s cellar, a chef’s kitchen, a hotelier’s suite or—more often than not—a local friend’s life. And while we’ve always savoured the opportunity for personal discovery by way of international exploration, we believe that a good journey is made great with company. So consider the insight, experience and expertise shared here your invitation; we hope to see you on the road.

About the Editor
Wandering through the worlds of newspaper and magazine publishing, Dave Bowden traded ink on his fingers for stamps on his passport when he stumbled upon Butterfield & Robinson and The Slow Road. Having hiked Ireland’s Croagh Patrick and Italy’s Cinque Terre, he’s got the walking portion of B&R’s “Walking and Biking Since 1966” slogan down pat. Chewing gum simultaneously, however, remains an ongoing challenge.
