Setting Records Among the World's Best

Around The World

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before:

Butterfield & Robinson is again among the Top Tour Operators in Travel + Leisure magazine’s 2014 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey.

That whole “having fun” thing Norm’s talking about? Yeah, our guides take it pretty seriously.

B&R has ranked among the top five tour operators in the world for a record-setting 15th time, this year placing third for the second year in a row. T+L‘s “World’s Best Awards” survey asks the magazine’s discerning readers to cast their votes for the hotels, destinations and companies that define the very best in travel.

Respondents to the survey were asked to rate tour operators on six characteristics: staff/guides, itineraries/destinations, activities, accommodations, food and value, with optional ratings for families and conservation/philanthropy.

B&R received an overall score of 96.39 out of 100, besting last year’s tally of 94.56.

“We’ve always been focused on being the best rather than the biggest, so it’s gratifying to see that our commitment to quality is recognized and appreciated by our travellers,” says B&R president Norman Howe. “I think it’s also fair to say that we have more fun doing what we do than just about any other travel company in the world, and that’s the secret of how we manage to stay at the top of these sorts of lists year after year!”

Of course, it’s hard not to have fun when you’re surrounded by the incredible travellers, guides, partners and local friends who not only allow us to keep doing what we love, but continue to vote us among the world’s best. So, while we may have let loose a few Woohoo!s when we got the news, the more appropriate thing to say is:

  1. I’d like to second the judges’ decision and commend the guides Peter and I had on our first B&R trip last month in France. Jeff and Zoe were a wonderful pair, guiding all of us (even the first day wobbly ones) professionally and competently through the valleys and hills of the Loire, and also making sure we had a lot of fun and relaxation. We will definitely do another B&R cycling and/or walking trip – but oh the choices…..!

    1. Sally, I think it’s safe to say you just made our day here at B&R headquarters. So glad to hear you had fun! (We’re pretty big fans of Zoe and Jeff, too.)
