2011 Photo Contest Winners

Must Sees | | By B&R Staff

First off, a generous thank you to those B&R travellers who shared their experiences with us in this year’s annual photo competition. Yet again, we are utterly impressed by the submissions. The sheer range of work and the talent behind the shots reminds us that so many people see the world in their own unique way.

Alas, the decision came down to our four eminent judges: Grant Gordon of Key Gordon Communications (the creative team behind B&R’s beautiful brochures!), Everett Potter of the Everett Potter Travel Report, photographer (and one of last year’s contest winners), Christopher Michel, and B&R co-founder Martha Butterfield. Given the excellent calibre of entries received there was much discussion and deliberation before the final decisions were passed down. But now, to the winners. Congratulations! Here they are.

“We ran into this old woman (although maybe she is not so old!) and her pet llama on one of our daily walks. I just love that tassel earring!”

“This extraordinary scene of fishermen set in beautiful Kotor Bay greeted us as we entered shortly after sunrise.”

“This picture was taken at the Abbaye de la Bussière (one of the top three hotels we’ve ever stayed at!) after a lovely ride from Beaune. We arrived after the kitchen had closed for lunch, but they were nice enough to fix us “a little something” which they then served us on our balcony, with of course some wine. We capped the afternoon off by exploring the wonderful grounds of the Abbaye, enjoying a little downtime by the lake. A truly memorable afternoon for both of us.”
