Fast Friends
Your kids will have plenty of company in Vietnam and Cambodia. Everywhere we go, we encounter children eager to make friends with the foreigners on the shiny bikes. That disarming friendliness permeates all aspects of life here, whether we’re riding elephants through Angkor Wat, touring Hanoi’s Old Quarter with a helpful guide, gaping at bemused water buffalo from the side of the road or stopping to chat with the townsfolk as we ride through the small villages along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. So special is this place and its people, we hold our breath every time we come back, hoping it hasn’t evolved too much, that it won’t be any less special. So far, so good!
Day 1 Take to the streets of Hanoi on cyclos, bike powered carts, before heading south for a conical hat making class
Day 2 Board our private riverboat and cruise up the Perfume River to the tomb of Minh Mang
Day 3 Ride into scenic Da Nang before heading into Hoi An (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) for lunch
Day 4 Walk a great trail that leads us past rice paddies, plenty of smiling kids and a pottery village with clay awaiting you on the wheel
Day 5 Cycle past war memorials and cemeteries before lunch overlooking the blue fishing boats of Da Nang
Day 6 Private speedboats take us to the Cu Chi Tunnels and after plenty of exploring, we hop on
the bikes for a riverside ride
Day 7 Visit Angkor Wat before cycling through the surrounding countryside to an evening sunset boat ride
Day 8 Temples and jungle by bike and elephant as we live out those explorer fantasies
Day 9 Breakfast and tam biêt in Siem Reap

Pilgrimage Village, Hué
The Pilgrimage Village is located in the peaceful countryside just 4 km (2 mi.) from the centre of Hué. You’ll come to appreciate this after learning that the only thing the Vietnamese love more than waking up early is honking the horns on their mopeds! The rooms are simple but comfortable, personal, and stylish.

Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, Siem Reap
For us, the only place to stay in Siem Reap is the Grand Hotel d’Angkor. Run by the Raffles Group, it is the area’s finest colonial landmark and provides the perfect base for our temple visits. At the end of each day’s explorations, your elegant guestroom awaits you—not to mention the historic Elephant Bar, fine restaurants, a beautiful pool and spa. The Grand is tastefully appointed with art deco-style furnishings and Khmer art objects.
