Italian Inspiration
Although he never visited them, Shakespeare had a love affair with the cities of the Veneto. He set Romeo & Juliet in Verona; his great tragedy, Othello, concerned a Venetian general. Not only is the Veneto region steeped in literature-inspiring history, it is also a breadbasket for the country, and naturally its people are lovers of good food and drink (consider the exquisite Valpolicella and Amarone wines, for instance). All the elements of a good trip seem to be present here—excellent riding, warm hospitality, colourful local personalities. Nonetheless we have always felt that the best trips must crescendo, like a stage play, towards a fitting climax. Our final night masquerade ball in a private Venetian palazzo fits the bill splendidly. Shakespeare would’ve been impressed!
Day 1 Explore Verona before enjoying a sweeping panoramic view over Lago di Garda
Day 2 Cycle through the Valpolicella vineyards en route to Peschiera sul Garda
Day 3 Ride like a local into the perfectly bike-friendly city of Vicenza
Day 4 Visit the Villa La Rotonda: an architectural gem that inspired one of Thomas Jefferson’s residences
Day 5 Explore the Venice lagoon on two wheels. In the evening, arrive by gondola to a masquerade ball in a private Venetian palazzo
Day 6 After breakfast we say our farewells. If you’re staying in town, join local resident Sally on our private city walk for an insider’s perspective of Venice

Verona to Venice Biking 2010
"We loved the trip overall. Our favorite part was the masked evening riding down the canals of Venice with wine. What a wonderful way to be introduced to Venice. We loved the biking and the routes and the guides were great."

Verona to Venice Biking 2010
"We had a wonderful time traveling with B&R from Verona to Venice. The biking was great, and the companionship of our fellow travellers enriched our experience. The last evening in Venice was a spectacular way to end the trip. We've become enthusiasts for seeing a country in this manner, and we are looking forward to the next B&R adventure!"

Easygoing
This trip is rated Easygoing. For the most part, the routes on our Verona to Venice trip are delightfully flat. In fact, one guide delights, “it’s flatter than Holland here!” That said, daily routes are easily expanded (by 30-50 km) for those looking for more of a challenge, or easily shortened by hopping into our ever-present support van or the numerous organized local transfers. Many of our routes follow designated bike paths, such as our unforgettable ride along the legendary Po River near Ferrara, and our final-day ride on the lagoon islands near Venice.
