Structured Independence in B&R Style
None of our scheduled dates fit your schedule? Like the idea of taking the reins yourself? Love your independence but don’t want to be totally on your own? A B&R self-guided biking trip is just the ticket. It combines three hallmarks of any B&R itinerary—excellent hotels, beautiful riding routes and superb custom-fitted bicycles—with the freedom of pacing each day exactly the way you like. We arrange some can’t-miss meals and events, transfer your bags and equip you with all the information you’ll need to craft the trip you desire. A Century Ride at dawn or a leisurely afternoon loop; a picnic of panini terracina or a gourmet lunch; a walking tour of historic Siena or a dip in the pool; the choices are yours.
Day 1 Pedal a warm-up loop through the farmland of the Val di Chiana, reward yourself with a swim before dinner at the intimate Locanda dell’Amorosa
Day 2 In the heart of the stunning crete hills, visit tiny, perfect Renaissance town Pienza for browsing and lunch before looping back via Montepulciano’s vino nóbile vineyards
Day 3 Ride the iconic SP438 road to Siena, with an optional detour to the historic monastery at Monte Oliveto Maggiore; after a guided walking tour of the renowned Piazza del Campo, dine in any of the city’s wonderful establishments
Day 4 Pedal into the Chianti hills, with a fitting private wine tasting at ride’s end
Day 5 Loop through quintessential hill towns like Radda-in-Chianti, with an optional detour to the renowned Badia a Coltibuono estate
Day 6 Linger over breakfast before a private car takes you to Florence city centre or airport

Locanda dell'Amorosa, Sinalunga
For Carlo Citterio, the Locanda dell’Amorosa is a work in
progress and a labour of love. When he set out to restore the
property that has been in his family for centuries, his first
step was to convert the stables into a superb restaurant. Soon
other buildings were refurbished: your bedroom may well have
been a clock tower or the hunting lodge. Literally translated
as “lodging of romance,” the Locanda exudes just that, and has
long been a favourite B&R retreat.

Grand Hotel Continental, Siena
Located in the heart of Siena, the five-star Grand Hotel Continental is a recently converted 17thC palazzo, originally designed by the baroque architect Giovanni Fontana. Ponder the history of this majestic, beautifully frescoed building as you sip prosecco in the courtyard.

Castello di Spaltenna
Situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region, just outside of Siena, Castello di Spaltenna overlooks a picturesque valley. The castle itself is filled with beautiful architectural details, has both indoor and outdoor pools, and its rooms are well-equipped with spectacular views over the valley or the cloister.
