It’s All About Who You Know…
One of Italy’s most beautiful and beloved regions, Tuscany has earned every accolade and exaltation bestowed upon it. Pack some extra hosannas; you’ll need them after you’ve set eyes on the sprawling farmlands, walled villages and hidden vineyards. While some come for the sun and to be seen, we’ve got better plans: sumptuous spreads laid out by close friends, olive oil tutorials from a respected master, wine tastings with award-winning oenologists, and spectacular biking through more picturesque hills than you can count. And as much as we appreciate the comfort of its fine hotels, it’s the rustic charms that capture our imagination. Tuscany is magical. Believe the hype.
Day 1 Ride to Montefollonico and Pienza, with lunch at olive guru Signor Bindi’s estate

Locanda dell'Amorosa, Sinalunga
For Carlo Citterio, the Locanda dell’Amorosa is a work in
progress and a labour of love. When he set out to restore the
property that has been in his family for centuries, his first
step was to convert the stables into a superb restaurant. Soon
other buildings were refurbished: your bedroom may well have
been a clock tower or the hunting lodge. Literally translated
as “lodging of romance,” the Locanda exudes just that, and has
long been a favourite B&R retreat.

Kelsey Harrod
Tuscany Biking 2010
“Every aspect of this trip exceeded my expectations; the wine, food, accommodations, company, and general experiences were phenomenal. While I am not an avid biker, the encouragement from our guides and the awaiting food and drinks atop of the hills made each ride fun and rewarding. My favorite experience was our picnic lunch at Sara and Miguel’s house on our way to Sinalunga. It is the first story I tell my friends and family when I reminisce about the trip. And while the trip itself was remarkable, my adoration for every detail is heightened by my experience with our guides, Alex and Vicki. From their knowledge of Tuscan culture and history to their passion for experiencing life through travelling. I feel lucky to have had them as my guides, and if I am ever fortunate enough to design my own trip, I will insist that Vicki and Alex guide our group.”

“The guides were superlative. I couldn’t have possibly asked or expected more support, dealing with day to day issues, and the (most important) feeling that what mattered to me sincerely mattered to them. My strongest gratitude to both Vicki and Alex. I remember two things—both were highly enjoyed and appreciated. Alex and I took a late afternoon ride to a nearby villa, which was exhilarating. Also when i was riding alone on a hot afternoon Vicki stopped the van and put out a picnic for both of us. Hopefully she enjoyed that as much as I did. It was the personal, not just the planned events that made this trip a gift for, and to me.”

“We had the trip of a life time! Alex and Courtney were outstanding guides—not sure we can go on another trip without them. Our weather was perfect and Tuscany looked beautiful at every turn! Every time we needed a break Alex or Courtney were at the top of the next hill with a spread of drinks, fresh fruit, cheese and breads (complete with flowers, a pretty table cloth and music). There are so many B&R moments, but meeting the Contessa and seeing her beautiful home was very special—I had so much fun making pasta with 'Momma Sara' as well. Thank you for such an amazing experience!”

“This was an unreal experience and a flawless trip. We stayed in amazing places most people will never see, and had great people and camaraderie with our group. It was the experience of a lifetime. I would tell others that if they are the type of person that likes adventure, great food, excellent wine, unreal accommodations, romance, great people, and unbelievable scenery all in the heart of the warm Italian people in the countryside, then this is your trip.”
