Imperial Blue
Turkey burns through empires the way movie stars do spouses; the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans have all laid claim to this vital link between East and West, and while there’s no doubting its strategic importance, we’re pretty sure the balmy climate and stunning scenery had something to do with it. Aboard our traditional teak gulet, we cruise the dazzling Aegean and its historic coastline in style. The scope of our eight-day reign here is wide and varied: incredible hikes on coastal paths to ancient tombs, on-board cooking tutorials, an underwater museum tour with a nautical archaeologist and all the sun-worship you can muster. Armchair emperors, inquire within.
Day 1 View the remains of Bodrum’s Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the World
Day 2 Visit a traditional carpet-making community on the Datça Peninsula
Day 3 Practice your ancient Greek for a day on the island of Symi
Day 4 Picnic on a mountainside with spectacular views of the sea below
Day 5 Marvel at the ancient Acropolis of Caunos, once the epicenter of the ancient sea port bearing the same name
Day 6 Go kayaking in the Gulf of Goçek and snorkel over sunken ruins
Day 7 Meet up with author John Laughland (and his donkey, Mabel) through the eerie remains of a Greek village abandoned for over 80 years
Day 8 Disembark the Kaya Guneri and hosçakal in Istanbul

Thomas Atkinson
Turquoise Coast 2010
“We loved the museum in Bodrum and meeting Donbey. We also loved the Queen of Karia and the ports we visited. The whole experience left me feeling that I would definitely repeat the same trip. We enjoyed being pampered by the crew on the boat and came home completely refreshed and ready to take another B&R trip. The most memorable moment was when the burning tree made of wine glasses arrived at our table on second last night at the Yacht Club, and we will always remember the belly dancers performance on the final night on board the Queen of Karia.”
Judith Huge
Turquoise Coast 2010
“This was one of the most outstanding travel experiences of our lives. Sakis was beyond wonderful—careful, responsible, passionate, informed, and engaging. He cared for each person as if he or she were the only guest on the trip.”

Don Frey, Archeologist
A decision in 1969 to take time off from his job as a Physics professor, to work on the underwater excavation of a Roman shipwreck would translate into a dramatic career change for Don Frey. His pioneering work in underwater archeology- specifically in the Bronze Age copper trade- has been instrumental in deepening the understanding of the cultural history of the Mediterranean. Don lives with his wife in Bodrum, Turkey, and when he's not under the sea, he can be found giving us a private tour of ship wrecks he helped to excavate, in the Bodrum Museum.
