Surely one of the most rewarding things about travelling with kids is seeing a place through their eyes, especially one you’re familiar with yourself. There is almost nowhere where that experience is more poignant than in Normandy. Day 1 Pedal past horse farms to postcard-perfect Honfleur, where kids (and adults, if they want) can visit the wacky, wonderful Satie Museum
Day 2 Visit the fascinating Pegasus Bridge Museum and then bike to Bayeux, home to the famed Bayeux Tapestry
Day 3 Kids head to the beach for a sailing class, while grown-ups pedal to Arromanches-les-Bains
Day 4 Relive D-Day at Utah Beach and in Sainte-Mère-Église, the town made famous in the film The Longest Day, while kids go horseback riding
Day 5  Families stay together to experience the chills of Omaha Beach, the Pointe du Hoc and the American cemetery, and then discuss their experiences with a member of the French Resistance over dinner
Day 6 Breakfast in Port-en-Bessin, then au revoir in Caen
