A Walk in the Clouds
We like to think small. In a place as grand as this, the simplest pleasures are often the most rewarding. Yes, New Zealand is big—Brobdingnagian-big. But it’s the little things, like communing with the wildlife (like penguins, seals, dolphins and the world’s only alpine parrot), strolling through the hills (to a treehouse suite at Hapuku, a majestic alpine lodge), slipping hither and thither on a boat (to a secluded hotel in the Marlborough Sounds that’s only accessible by one) and sampling local delicacies (delicious lamb, exquisite seafood, stellar wine and the fish ‘n chips in Kaikoura, all arguably the world’s best) that really matter. See? It’s all in the small (read: large) details.
Here’s a sample of what you can expect on your custom-designed Bespoke New Zealand Walking trip. Intrigued? Contact a Bespoke Trip Designer for further details.

Bay of Many Coves Resort, Marlborough Sounds
Built in 2003, this remote coastal retreat is a small 16-room property nestled on the bush-clad southern hills of Queen Charlotte Sound (boat access only!). Our stunning cliffside apartments each feature a huge retractable bay window--perfect for watching gorgeous sailboats slip quietly into the main wharf at sunset. And ideal a little later on for scanning a star-filled sky in search of the Southern Cross.

Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses, Kaikoura
Built in 2003 with the tree-house completion in October of 2006, this lodge is rustic in a sleek and modern kind of way. Nestled in amongst a working deer farm and a 1,000-tree olive grove, the rooms have either ocean or mountain views. Choose from an exotic tree house suite or a cozy room in the main lodge. Either way, the lodge hosts will ensure that your every need and desire is tended to.

Fiordland Lodge, Te Anau
This remote and cozy lodge is located in the middle of 1.2 million hectares of protected ancient rain forest and is surrounded by some of the world’s finest walking tracks. Built in 2002, the lodge has only 10 rooms, all of which face the lake and the towering mountains beyond. One must relax in the lounge area with its massive fireplace and floor-to-ceiling glass to truly appreciate how spectacular the lodge is.

Dale and Cathy Brislow
New Zealand Biking 2011
"We have nothing but the highest of compliments for the B&R team that looked after us in New Zealand. Together, they were outstanding; individually, they were wonderful. Of all the memorable trip moments–the Mount John Observatory, icebergs and Tasman Glacier Moraine Lake– what we will remember most are the people at B&R."

Moderate to Challenging
This trip is rated Moderate to Challenging. Our daily hikes are between 3 and 5 hours over rolling terrain. All hikes offer a wilderness adventure that few ever have the chance to experience, and we are accompanied by a nature guide to interpret the different environments. The rain forest walks around Fiordland and Queenstown are hilly, and weather will be more of a factor in those areas.
