Two Islands, Millions of Possibilities
“Grand Journey” is a lofty title to live up to, but New Zealand makes it look easy. Tucked away at the bottom of the world, New Zealand crams more history, adventure and jaw-dropping natural beauty into its 270,000 sq. km (167,770 sq. mi.) than the human brain can process. Down here, the wildest extremes occur every day: mammoth volcanoes tower over fetching farmlands; the mighty Pacific pounds the shores of peaceful coastal towns; centuries-old Maori traditions live on in communities flavoured with hints of colonial England. Exhilaration and relaxation are your constant companions on this trip, where a luxurious lodge and a bottle of the local vintage await after a long day of hiking and biking. Some would call that “grand”; we call it “truth in advertising.”
Here’s a sample of what you can expect on your custom-designed Bespoke New Zealand Grand Journey. Intrigued? Contact a Bespoke Trip Designer for further details.

Greenhill Country Estate, Hawke's Bay
How does one accurately summarize a 30-acre property that was frequented by the late Queen Mother? Set on a hilltop with stunning rural vistas of the surrounding wine country, the architecturally stunning main lodge and the personalities
involved speak for themselves. The food is impeccable, the animal calls meditative and the suites, well… Pure luxury at its country finest.

Wharekauhau Lodge & Country Estate, Featherston
There’s not much room left on the Wharekauhau’s mantel for another distinguished “Best Of” award. (Andrew Harper & Wine Spectator are two of its admirers.) Maori for “place of knowledge” and pronounced faray-ko-ho, Wharekauhau is set on a 2,000 hectare, 150-year-old working sheep farm. In fact, its logo, a rowboat oarlock, refers to the farm’s original, makeshift branding iron, used to label boxes of wool before they were rowed out to waiting ships. This gorgeously decorated Edwardian mansion and its surrounding private cottages all overlook spectacular Palliser Bay.
