The Land Where the Sun Sets
Morocco is a journey of the mind and spirit as much as one of geography. As you cross the sun-baked Saharan dunes, ascend the soaring High Atlas Mountains, a strange sensation creeps over you. Don’t worry, it’s not heat exhaustion (our van will keep your thirst thoroughly slaked), but rather a deepening connection with this amazing place as it seeps into your soul. We believe a place like Morocco is best enhanced by local characters sharing their stories and lives, and after more than a decade here, we’ve earned plenty of friends. From souk to Kasbah to remote Berber village, we’ve got the authentic experiences covered. Unleash you inner nomad here.
Day 1 Visit a pre-Saharan village with a local guide then ride through the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains to a true oasis
Day 2 Journey to the Sahara by bike, 4x4 and camel, then feast under the stars before retiring to your private tent
Day 3 Cross paths with camels, goats and smiling kids on donkeys as we bike back to Skoura past kasbahs and lively local villages
Day 4 Bike through the breathtaking Tizi’n ‘Test Pass, where the landscape changes from mountains to olive and almond groves
Day 5 Hike to a remote Berber village—or relax in the spa of an exclusive mountain retreat tucked away in the fabulous Imlil Valley
Day 6 Explore the spectacular “Plateau du Kik” en route to Marrakech and the amazing La Sultana hotel
Day 7 Wander into Marrakech’s famous Djemaa el Fna, the mythical meeting place of snake charmers, storytellers and a thousand other characters
Day 8 Breakfast and m’a ssalama in Marrakech

Dar Ahlam La Maison des Rêves, Skoura
Located within the palm groves of Skoura, this renovated kasbah features serene guest rooms, a gorgeous pool, and views of the Atlas Mountains. It ranks as a most luxurious oasis in our books; in fact, our Regional Director for Morocco reports that it is the very best he has seen in his 12 years in the country

A Night in the Desert, Iriqui Lake
Our private Berber Camp in the middle of the desert is not just magical and romantic—it’s also very comfortable. The camp features double and twin private tents furnished with rich carpets, warm blankets and very comfy beds, so you’ll sleep like a Berber and a baby at the same time!

Kasbah Tamadot Resort, Asni
Once owned by an Italian antique collector and interior designer, this unique mountain retreat is tucked away in the fabulous Imlil Valley. Dominated on all sides by the High Atlas Mountains and the Jbel Toubkal (the second highest peak of all Africa at 4,167 m/2.58 mi.), it is surrounded by 20 hectares of beautiful rose gardens, almond groves and fruit trees. The lodge also features an incredible spa. Butterfield & Robinson is proud to be the only biking company accepted by the property.

La Sultana, Marrakech
We stay two nights at the beautiful La Sultana. This palace is formed by four riads with different character and charm. Craftsmen and local artists worked three years to give this property all the authenticity and luxury Morocco could offer. Located in the heart of the medina inside the wall near the Royal Palace in the Kasbah neighborhood. You can see and almost “visit” the Saadians Tombs from the roof top! Your biggest dilemma will be whether to wander into the souks or lounge poolside with a long cool drink.

Dennis & Judy Newton
Morocco Biking 2009
“We both agree that our time in Morocco was our best trip to date. We attribute this to our guides and the support staff, because they have amazing attention to detail, along with knowledge and passion of Morocco. They also have an ability to orchestrate a beautiful adventure while remaining very present and focused on the moment as a guide. We appreciate all the planning that goes into this kind of trip. It is the special attention to detail that makes B&R trips in a class of their own.”
David Epstein
Morocco Biking 2010
“This was our 12th B&R trip, and I think that speaks volumes. No other company does trips like B&R. On this trip, the night in the desert was most memorable. We would tell another traveller that this trip is a unique opportunity to see a beautiful part of the world.”

Easygoing to Moderate
This trip is rated Easygoing to Moderate. Daily biking distances usually vary from 20 to 45 km (12 to 28 mi.) with options on some days as far as 80 km (48 mi.). The terrain is generally flat with a few hills along the way. The difficulty of the ride often depends on which way the wind is blowing. The walking is mostly flat, except for our day in the Atlas Mountains.
