Get Wild
It is a land that approaches the mythic—a place of staggering beauty that poses endless adventures for the entire family. With B&R you delve into the raw and rugged magnificence that is Iceland, where glaciers and volcanoes abound, hot springs run wild and distant mountain ranges beg investigation. We traverse this unforgettable terrain by way of Super Bus—part bus, part 4x4—but it is in the hiking of lava fields, riding horses, caving, rock climbing and glacier trekking that puts us in touch with the wonders that are everywhere around us. Add to that the abiding hospitality that defines a B&R excursion and a host of kid-friendly activities and you’re as good as here. Sure, you may never quite get the knack of pronouncing the overly-syllabic names, but this magical place is sure to live on forever in your family’s memory.
Day 1 Super Bus our way to the Icelandic highlands, followed by hiking in a remarkable nature reserve
Day 2 Venture to the Mount Hekla volcano and the mountains of Landmannalaugar; museum visit, canyon hiking and, possibly, a dip in a heated river
Day 3 Option to either hike or go horse back riding plus an afternoon hike in UNESCO Heritage Site, Þingvellir
Day 4 Morning caving at Iceland’s deepest cavern, Surtshellir. Forest and lake hike in the afternoon
Day 5 Hike to Iceland’s highest waterfall, Glymur Falls or kayaking a fjord. Rock-climbing for the kids. Hike to the Budir crater for the afternoon
Day 6 Coastal hike in the morning. Ascend the Snaefellsnes glacier in the afternoon
Day 7 Quick look about the capital Reykjavik before heading to airport

Easygoing to Moderate
This trip is rated Easygoing to Moderate. The terrain we cover is incredibly varied. We’ll enjoy some gentle walks along beaches and through rolling countryside and somewhat more strenuous walks in the mountains, along glaciers and through canyons. Additional activities include kayaking, horseback riding and caving. Please be aware that hikes and/or activities may have to be changed last-minute due to climate conditions, which are highly unpredictable in Iceland. Please also note that drives can be long; this enables us to take in a huge variety of scenery and experience a multitude of landscapes. That said, our exclusive use of the Super Bus makes vehicular time as comfortable, flexible and interesting as it can be.
