The Wildest Place You’ll Ever Go
If biology class were this much fun, we wouldn’t need summer vacation. The world’s greatest cage-less zoo, this volcanic archipelago teems with wild things your kids won’t see anywhere outside of science textbooks and the Discovery Channel. Lizards that swim? Cormorants that don’t fly? Natural selection sure is selective, huh? The sea lions and lava lizards get close enough to touch (but we won’t—nature is best appreciated from a respectful distance), and our expert naturalists will be at the ready to field any and all questions. Snorkelling, kayaking and swimming off the Isabela II’s back deck? You can’t top this lesson plan. The best part? The kids will be having so much fun they’ll forget it’s all educational.
Day 1 Take a guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Quito
Day 2 Walk North Seymour Island’s volcanic landscapes to view frigate birds, boobies and land iguanas
Day 3 Meet sea lions, lava lizards and the awesome waved albatross on Punta Suarez
Day 4 Hop into a panga and get a closer look at the world’s most northerly penguin
Day 5 Tour the Charles Darwin Research Station
Day 6 Spot red-footed boobies and cormorants on the beaches of Genovesa Island, then go snorkelling in search of hammerhead sharks(!)
Day 7 Spot whales and dolphins a from the Isabela’s sun deck
Day 8 Snorkel with sea lions and turtles on Santiago Island
Day 9 Disembark the Isabela II and adiós in Quito

Forrest & Lorri McClain
Galápagos Islands With the Kids, 2008
“FANTASTIC trip! It surpassed our expectations. Naturalists, ship crew and guides couldn’t have been better. Also, it was our daughter’s birthday during the trip, and the guides and crew went overboard -- it was so much fun! They arranged a party complete with cake and piñata. Excellent, excellent experience. We will definitely travel with B&R again!”
