Mediterranean Paradise
What would you expect of a place that is situated between the French Riviera and the coast of Tuscany? The best of both worlds: winding cobblestone alleys, stunning seaside scenery and delectable cuisine. But Corsica’s character is also deeply grounded in its rugged geography and a culture that is proudly independent and entirely unique. We believe the only way to get to know the real Corsica is on foot. We’ve discovered some pretty inspiring nooks and crannies that way, not to mention mountain, village and seaside walks punctuated by quiet cove swims, charming cafés and elegant hotels.
Day 1 Dine at a divinely delicious table far above the twinkling lights of Calvi
Day 2 Enjoy the views from Notre Dame de la Serra Chapel, then descend for a dip in a private cove
Day 3 Walk the forest and streams of the central mountains, with a visit to Bronze-Age Cucuruzzu along the way
Day 4 Hike a portion of the famed GR20 trail from the Bocca di Bavedda, famed for its giant laricio pines and simultaneous views of both sides of the island
Day 5 Explore sublime Bonifacio, then depart with panache on a private boat to admire its coastline
Day 6 Breakfast in Porto-Vecchio, then au revoir in Figari

Proudly perched on the hillside above Calvi, this sumptuous Relais & Châteaux hotel is ideally sited for gazing at the mountains, bay and citadel while lounging by one of the many pools. We love the understated elegance of its lounge and bistro, while the poolside restaurant l’Alivu has earned its stars.

Moderate to Challenging
This trip is rated Moderate to Challenging. The terrain we cover is varied and footing frequently rocky. We’ll enjoy some rolling walks with less-sustained climbs in the Balagne region, stroll the Alta Rocca’s boulder-strewn trails, then tackle high mountains at Bavedda with a mountain guide: rewarding views guaranteed! Our last day is coastal splendor, with one good climb. Daily distances range from 5 to 13 km (3 to 8 mi.), with options for shorter or longer walks available most days.
