Rolling Beyond the Wall
Experiencing Germany by bike with B&R means seeing the many sides of this remarkable country. Over the course of the week we explore the dynamic cities of Berlin, Potsdam and Dresden—cities replete with culture, history and art, but that also reveal a dynamic, contemporary soul. But it isn't all about the urban Germany. We venture off into the countryside, traversing forest paths and wending along lakeside trails outside of Potsdam, spinning through the woods of Swiss Saxony and through the Elbe River valley. We even manage to go punting in the Spreewald to take in another perspective on the stunning surroundings. We tour palaces and the incredible gardens of Sanssouci, reside in a castle, and immerse ourselves in all the delicious tastes and comforts that accompany us along the way.
Day 1 Guided bike ride around Berlin with an afternoon ride to Potsdam
Day 2 Guided bike tour of Sanssouci gardens, palace tour followed by a loop ride around Lake Templin
Day 3 Morning ride through nature reserve, punting along a river and loop ride through the Spreewald
Day 4 Gentle ride along the Elbe River valley, followed by a tour of a porcelain factory.
Day 5 Walking tour of Baroque Dresden followed by a stunning nature reserve ride in Swiss Saxony
Day 6 Farewells after breakfast

Hotel Kempinski Taschenbergpalais, Dresden
Nestled between the baroque landmarks of the opera house and national museum, the Taschenbergpalais has a location that is second-to-none. And beyond the imposing façade of this meticulously reconstructed royal palace, built in 1706, lie equally regal amenities: sitting rooms, courtyards, spa and sauna, and a sublime fifth-floor swimming pool.

Easygoing
This trip is rated Easygoing. The riding is mostly flat and a good part of it is on dedicated bike paths. In Berlin and Potsdam, we follow paths and quiet roads to get an inside view of the interesting history of these places. The Spree Forest is also very level riding, with some bike path sections on hard-packed gravel, while riders will be required to push their bikes over a couple of low wooden bridges. In Saxony we bike along the river Elbe, which is virtually flat. Options are available.
