Two-Wheeled Tango

Unbelievable variety is commonplace in Argentina’s northwest—from jaw-dropping mountain vistas and canyons that change colour when the sunlight hits them to incredibly lush cloud forests and the blank canvases of the Andean salt pans on which Nature paints her prettiest skyscapes. Humans have done their best to complement nature’s genius with colourful colonial towns, miles of bike-friendly pavement, strong Incan and Catholic traditions that still live in the rural communities, flavours and rhythms that have fed and moved generations of Altiplano people, and Salta, known locally as simply “The Beautiful.” And then, there’s the wine: as good to luxuriate in (via a wine-spa treatment) as it is to drink.
