Resolutions for 2010
Bike trips, walking trips, trips for families: B&R's Resolutions for 2010.

Another year has come and gone, and it’s time once again for resolutions.
But before you rush down to the gym, adopt a llama or take that last sip of extra creamy caramel macchiato, think about all the resolutions that have gone before—and whether they made you smile. No? Well this year, we’ve got some great resolutions that will make you smile all the way to a healthier, happier you. We’ve found a way to make your journey towards personal restoration not just possible, but highly pleasurable. Make a resolution—and we’ll help you keep it. Guaranteed.

SIGN UP FOR SPIN CLASS
Not the spin class where everyone stares at the floor that doesn’t move because they’re inside a basement downtown. The class that starts in Val di Chiana and ends in Siena, with an olive oil tutorial, a tour of the famed wine estate and a lunch at a casa thrown in just for us. A positive spin that needs no spin.

SUPPORT THE LOCAL FARMER'S MARKET
Including ones you’ve likely never experienced before—bursting with exotic colours and fresh produce. From serene Luang Prabang, the under-explored Laotian gem with its Mekong vistas and saffron robes, to the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay, then finally bike through history to Hanoi. This is the essence of Indochina, in all its splendour.

STOP TO SMELL THE MUSHROOMS
Mull over life’s big questions while indulging in Michelin stars in the Roero hills. Amble with a local guide, before pedaling to a spa hotel (a swim in the panoramic outdoor pool helps clear the cobwebs). Just as the Barolo kicks in, you’ll be tiptoeing amongst the tubers with a real trifulau.

DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF
Imagine cycling past glaciers on the South Island; jet-boating the breathtaking Rakaia Gorge; drinking in the views—and the legendary Sauvignon Blanc—from a glorious lakefront lodge on Wanaka.  Thank Middle Earth, for bringing you back to earth.

DRINK LESS BEER
Beer? Pshaw. This is our Wine Grand Journey—the very best of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Piemonte; by bike and private jet. Get your hands dirty in the vines and sip prized vintages over Michelin-stars. Blend at Château Lynch-Bages; taste at Château Lafite-Rothschild; lunch at Gevrey-Chambertin; and savour a tour of the legendary (and very private) Gaja winery, a coup for any oenophile.

DO IT MY WAY
Want to belt out classic Sinatra from the summit of Aconcagua? Want to sit back at the head of the table over-looking the Adriatic, surrounded by your family, and say to yourself “There, I finally made it happen!”? Whether it’s a family reunion or a heli-golf getaway, we can customize the trip that’s perfect for you. Every step of the way. All you need is a little resolve. We’ll take care of the rest.

GIVE MY KIDS MORE SPACE
Patagonia takes the whole family into the wild. Imagine hiking the Perito Moreno Glacier, then rafting, bouldering and rapelling through Nahuel Huapi National Park. Cultural horizons expand nicely, too, with a visit to a working estancia and a lively game of futbal. More space can do wonders. The cool thing is, the kids will love you for it.

SEE THE FOREST AND THE TREES
If you wanted sensory overload, you’d stay in Tokyo, or stay home. Make time for cherry blossoms and bonsais. This is ancient Japan; vigorous biking with contemplative pauses. We’re here to help you fit into a proud, traditional culture: Shinto temples, Buddhist shrines, tea ceremonies, onsen baths and an evening with geishas.

TREAT MY WIFE LIKE A QUEEN
Ever fear she’ll wake up and realize you’re just a frog? Relax, this trip takes Royal Treatment to a new level. Warm-up ride along the River Indre; taste the region’s most princely vintages in medieval Chinon; and dismount at three palatial châteaux, one of which is opened just for us. By the time you leave, she’ll be calling you Lionheart.

SLOW DOWN TO SEE THE WORLD
It has been 44 years since we made the decision to encourage people to “slow down to see the world.” If there’s only one resolution you keep this year, we hope it’s this one. LIFE IS SHORT. Take a break from your hectic daily routine and go exploring. Bike or walk with us, or go heli-skiing with someone else. Whatever you do, slow down, immerse yourself in another culture, and have fun doing it. We’ve found it makes all the difference.
