“We never wanted to be the biggest travel company, just the best.”
-George Butterfield
What is the B&R difference? Well, we certainly travel in style and comfort, but that’s not what makes our trips so memorable. The B&R difference is the best biking and walking routes in the world’s most incredible places. It's the most capable and genuinely interesting guides you'll find anywhere. It’s the most interesting hotels the region has to offer—and the best rooms in those hotels. It’s amazing culinary experiences, state-of-the-art equipment, great wines at dinner, a water bottle that’s always filled, route suggestions you won’t find in any guidebook, the B&R van popping up right when you need it… et cetera! Are you starting to get the picture?
Learn more about the B&R family, amazing moments you might have on your trip, the types of hotels you’ll stay in, and the victuals and libations you are likely to enjoy.

Barbara Dickie
Peru 2010
“We just wanted to say thank you to your organization for providing a spectacular trip for us in May in Peru. Tyler did a perfect job; he was fun, very well organized, friendly with everyone and provided a feeling that we were in safe hands, especially on the hikes. I was very grateful. The whole trip was perfectly designed, the hikes were interesting and challenging (I was so pleased that I could do them and made me feel invigorated), the accommodations were fantastic especially Sol Luna and spending the day on the beautiful Peruvian horses was a treat. The food was delicious, the was group outstanding and the climb into Machu Picchu was exhilarating—so glad we did it. So BRAVO to all of you, we are certainly recommending this to friends and it was the best trip of our lives!”

Vietnam Walking 2009
“To a fellow traveller: It was the first time in my life I was spoiled beyond belief; you wiz through airports and your team are at hand every step of the way. Your hotels are already prepared, meals booked, and nothing is too much for your B&R representative. Thank you all for making this a great memory.”
Diane Murphy
Peru Walking 2010
“I would tell another traveller that this was possibly the most transformational travel experience that I ever had. The natural beauty is awesome on steroids! The Peruvian peoples’ deep respect for Mother Earth along with their kindness and humility was remarkable. Most impressive on B&R’s part was conquering the logistics of avoiding crowds both in Macchu Pichhu and along the Inca Trail. The result of this careful planning and research was an experience beyond my greatest expectation. Both Tyler and Ana were excellent guides along with their Peruvian counterparts. Their experience and knowledge was extraordinary. My best B&R moment was entering the Sun Gate after a long day on the trail—a dream come true for me—and Tyler, with champagne in hand to greet us!”

The Tour Biking 2010
“This trip was amazing—I wish I was still on it now. I was told it was going to be great by others who have done B&R trips but it was still better than where my expectations were set. My Tour de France trip was the perfect mix of quality riding, live exposure to the race, and all the other experiences including the hotels, meals, support, sites, and other travellers. The bike routes were the highlight for me. Without the trip planning and guides, there is no way to ride the phenomenal routes we did—particularly riding to and from the Col de Painhere—incredible!”

VITAMIN D
You’ve gotta love a vitamin best administered through the skin. Our favourite source has always been Provence’s legendary sunshine. Dosage: at mealtimes and regular intervals throughout the day.
SLOW FOOD
We believe in slowing down not only to see the world, but slowing down to taste it. And no one does it slower than they do in Piemonte, birthplace of the Slow Food movement.
FOLIC ACID
P&L sheets. P/E ratios. KPIs. EBITDA. Losing brain cells to stress at the office will get you nowhere! Folic acid is crucial for cell growth. Where to get it? Foie gras. Eat it because your body will thank you.
IMAGINATION
Play-acting helps improve cognitive development—especially in children. Now, you can read books about castles and knights... or you can do one step better. Who gets dibs on Joan of Arc’s bed?
TOUAREG TEA
Moroccan mint tea is a one-two punch for your health. Mint aids digestion while green tea is packed with cancer-fighting polyphenols. (Hint: it’s customary to have at least three glasses.)
HYDROTHERAPY
It's said that getting hot, sweaty and pummelled stimulates the immune system and releases toxins. Best results: the hammam (Turkish thermal baths), followed by great wine and a sail on our private gulet.
ENDORPHINS
Claustrophobia is caused when BlackBerry, Twitter and LinkedIn collaborate in a hostile takeover of your personal space. Relief can be found through a sudden rush of endorphins created by the best biking in the world.
MEDITATION
Increase serotonin and boost the immune system by sitting and doing nothing! The Vietnamese have been practicing Buddhist meditation for centuries, and they weren’t even worried about quarterly reports.
STAMINA
The Incas considered quinoa sacred food and used it to increase the stamina of their warriors. They were on to something. Embrace your inner warrior. Come to the Andes and eat up.
POLYPHENOLS
Experts tell us polyphenols are good for your heart. A tasty way to get enough is extra-virgin olive oil. The Pugliesi have produced some of the world’s finest cold-pressed extra virgin liquid gold for centuries. Cono e mangiare!
MAKE FRIENDS
A recent study says it all: individuals standing alone at the bottom of a hill felt the hill was much steeper than individuals standing with friends. Friendship aids our psychological health, our immune systems, our longevity.
ANTIOXIDANTS
The café as we know it owes its existence to the Viennese coffee houses that sprung up after retreating Turks left their black gold behind. Enjoy the café in its original form—and get your meds where it all started.
Warning: While there may be many health benefits of B&R trips, there can be serious side effects as well. Take, for instance, our trips to Piemonte, Italy. Many travellers return to their normal lives unable to eat a meal in under three hours. Travellers returning from Provence often take up painting and develop an acute disregard for punctuality. And New Zealand? One couple promptly quit their jobs, sold everything and moved to the South Island. To ensure you know what you're getting into, always read the detailed trip itinerary. Itineraries are fun, colourful and easy to download. Link here to get started!
Another year has come and gone, and it’s time once again for resolutions.
But before you rush down to the gym, adopt a llama or take that last sip of extra creamy caramel macchiato, think about all the resolutions that have gone before—and whether they made you smile. No? Well this year, we’ve got some great resolutions that will make you smile all the way to a healthier, happier you. We’ve found a way to make your journey towards personal restoration not just possible, but highly pleasurable. Make a resolution—and we’ll help you keep it. Guaranteed.

SIGN UP FOR SPIN CLASS
Not the spin class where everyone stares at the floor that doesn’t move because they’re inside a basement downtown. The class that starts in Val di Chiana and ends in Siena, with an olive oil tutorial, a tour of the famed wine estate and a lunch at a casa thrown in just for us. A positive spin that needs no spin.
SUPPORT THE LOCAL FARMER'S MARKET
Including ones you’ve likely never experienced before—bursting with exotic colours and fresh produce. From serene Luang Prabang, the under-explored Laotian gem with its Mekong vistas and saffron robes, to the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay, then finally bike through history to Hanoi. This is the essence of Indochina, in all its splendour.
STOP TO SMELL THE MUSHROOMS
Mull over life’s big questions while indulging in Michelin stars in the Roero hills. Amble with a local guide, before pedaling to a spa hotel (a swim in the panoramic outdoor pool helps clear the cobwebs). Just as the Barolo kicks in, you’ll be tiptoeing amongst the tubers with a real trifulau.
DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF
Imagine cycling past glaciers on the South Island; jet-boating the breathtaking Rakaia Gorge; drinking in the views—and the legendary Sauvignon Blanc—from a glorious lakefront lodge on Wanaka. Thank Middle Earth, for bringing you back to earth.
DRINK LESS BEER
Beer? Pshaw. This is our Wine Grand Journey—the very best of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Piemonte; by bike and private jet. Get your hands dirty in the vines and sip prized vintages over Michelin-stars. Blend at Château Lynch-Bages; taste at Château Lafite-Rothschild; lunch at Gevrey-Chambertin; and savour a tour of the legendary (and very private) Gaja winery, a coup for any oenophile.
DO IT MY WAY
Want to belt out classic Sinatra from the summit of Aconcagua? Want to sit back at the head of the table over-looking the Adriatic, surrounded by your family, and say to yourself “There, I finally made it happen!”? Whether it’s a family reunion or a heli-golf getaway, we can customize the trip that’s perfect for you. Every step of the way. All you need is a little resolve. We’ll take care of the rest.
GIVE MY KIDS MORE SPACE
Patagonia takes the whole family into the wild. Imagine hiking the Perito Moreno Glacier, then rafting, bouldering and rapelling through Nahuel Huapi National Park. Cultural horizons expand nicely, too, with a visit to a working estancia and a lively game of futbal. More space can do wonders. The cool thing is, the kids will love you for it.
SEE THE FOREST AND THE TREES
If you wanted sensory overload, you’d stay in Tokyo, or stay home. Make time for cherry blossoms and bonsais. This is ancient Japan; vigorous biking with contemplative pauses. We’re here to help you fit into a proud, traditional culture: Shinto temples, Buddhist shrines, tea ceremonies, onsen baths and an evening with geishas.
TREAT MY WIFE LIKE A QUEEN
Ever fear she’ll wake up and realize you’re just a frog? Relax, this trip takes Royal Treatment to a new level. Warm-up ride along the River Indre; taste the region’s most princely vintages in medieval Chinon; and dismount at three palatial châteaux, one of which is opened just for us. By the time you leave, she’ll be calling you Lionheart.
SLOW DOWN TO SEE THE WORLD
It has been 44 years since we made the decision to encourage people to “slow down to see the world.” If there’s only one resolution you keep this year, we hope it’s this one. LIFE IS SHORT. Take a break from your hectic daily routine and go exploring. Bike or walk with us, or go heli-skiing with someone else. Whatever you do, slow down, immerse yourself in another culture, and have fun doing it. We’ve found it makes all the difference.
